WOW!!!!!!! What a wonderful gift! I haven't delved into canning yet.....I'm more into freezing stuff. I would like to learn how to do pickles. My BF tried to do some pickles and when she opened them to taste them she and her husband literally ran out the door and spit them in the yard they tasted so bad! Makes me nervous. :p

Lori, you need to do the Icicle Pickles I posted. They take time, but you can do as may as you want and they are so worth it.

My Aunt gave me some freezer pickles she did. I almost didn't take the jar cause I didn't think they would be any good. Wow!, was I wrong. I calling her to get her recipe tonight.

Canning is very easy. Waterbathing is even easier. You could start with an easy relish or something. I only started about 5 years ago. Each year I try to add something else. This year, I found a recipe for Beef Stew that I will probably try.

Yesterday was mostly and errand day, between rain showers. I went to Goodwill and filled my buggy. I give alot of canned goodies for Christmas gifts each year. While at GW, a thought occured to me. Instead of putting them in gift bags, why not cute little baskets? So, I started scanning the isles. I bought several priced any where from $.49-$.99. Some are wire, one's an egg basket and some are wooden. All are reusable for the recipient. I'll just need to get some filler paper and tie a pretty bow.

I also got a brand new mini charcoal grill for $2.99. We can take it to the races to grill our on hotdogs or something.

At the grocery store, I used my coupons and got lots of BYGOs. I bought about 10lbs. of ground beef for less than $3.00 per.

The afternoon turned off sunny and bright. I picked another half bushel of tomatoes, some okra and cukes. The stalks on the tomatoes were already breaking due to all the fruit on them. The rain yesterday made it worse. I tied them back the best I could, and picked everthing even beginning to turn.

Some of the bush beans are laying over. I'll have to get them up sooner to keep them from rotting.

Since our corn didn't come in, I had to buy it. We got 40 dz. for $3 per. Daddy gets 5 dz.

It's coming a real frog drowner outside now. We are about 4" behind in rain for the year. I think after the past 3 days, we will be caught up. We have flood watches out for our area till this evening.

Today, I am going to work on a quilt for my SIL's birthday in Dec. (no procrastination here) I just need to finish the binding.
Tonight, we are going out to eat with DS's best friend's family. Josh (BF), turned 17 on the 26th.

I love your pantry shelves. I am still whinning to DH about building me one. I showed him pics of yours trying to lite a fire. LOL

Pressure canner - WOW - what a great gift. I would have to give them at least one jar of everything I canned in it for several cannings.

We are getting those rain storms also. Weather sure is strange this year.

You got some great deals, punkin! :thumbsup

I love making up the baskets at Christmas. I've used window box planters when I've found some at a good price that are nice to look at.

Wanda, just do what I did - set everything in the floor in his way. :D Or, say "I'll can some (whatever) when I have enough room." :D
