I won't lie, Ann, I'm scared to death! We haven't had a house payment in YEARS.

We've put a lot of work into this place, and everything we had said we want to do here, is already done there!

We were going to put in a pond and stock it...already there...

We're working on pasture fields now, that has a 1.5 acre pasture already fenced in! Just needs a gate!

The barn is 24x24 Uh..have ya'll seen my barns??? :gig

Plus, it would be OURS and no other family members would have any rights/say, etc. (Nor do we plan to tell them where we move to!)

There is a small barn shaped storage shed in front of the "house" that Ernie said I think would make a great coop and feed storage for the chooks.

I am telling ya'll, for us, this place is our dream. I've always wanted a place with a stream running through it, Ernie has always wanted a pond.

It has a WELL!!!!!!! and TWO not one but TWO outdoor spigots! One down by the barn (YEAH!!) and one close to the house.

We're making a plan, because we don't want to rush. We wouldn't be able to do much work on the house (it's not liveable the way it is) until Ernie has completely healed from his back surgery, which is an estimated 6 months. We're researching a farm loan, to see if that's the best route for us to take, or not....We are making money here where we are off our farm, not huge profits, but enough to get buy. We're thinking stay here while we are cleaning up the other place and making the payments. We can get the barn cleaned out (it's loaded with junk), get the grass mowed, clear out the stuff that is still there (previous owner passed away and left it all to his sister. She took what she wanted, left the rest.)

The realtor told us that what we see is what we get, except for the camper. There's a canoe, another boat behind the barn (not a bass boat, but one of those kinds you see people pulling skiers behind?), an almost new sectional couch in the livingroom, etc.

Oh and on the kitchen table, a stuffed squirrel on a log that scared the bejezus out of Ernie. NEVER have I seen him jump like that!

It's only been listed for 59 days. She said a lot of people have called about it, but we are the first ones to have asked to see the inside. She told us to remain optimistic when I told her I was scared. LOL

She's putting the topographic map and some other information in the mail to us tomorrow.

I have to resize the rest of the pics I have and load them to photobucket...then I'll post more.

eta: Best part is, we wouldn't "technically" lose any ground! We have 6.5 acres here, and that's 6.65 acres. I always thought we had 7 acres, until we had this place surveyed. We lost 10 feet all the way around! And my apple trees!

Congratulations!

How well do fruit trees transplant? Didn't you just plant them this year? Or were those something else?

LOL thanks, but we don't know that we'll be getting it yet, but I'm sure praying.

Ernie said as long as we transplant in the fall, I should be able to take all of my fruit trees and my blueberry bushes.

I had said if the family was going to try to force us out, then I would want to move lock, stock, and barrel and not have to start over. I immediately started praying for God to make that possible, if we were to move. If we are able to get this place, then God has answered that prayer.

Here's a pic of the "house". I have interior photos, but I shudder to show those, because it's that bad....

I like the house, has a lot of character, it has nice large windows. Not only a spigot but also a sink? Pretty nice ;)

If you can take your time and keep living where you are while you get things fixed up and trees moved etc... that would totally rock! :thumbsup

The hardest part would be staying totally quiet about the whole thing to family. You KNOW if they think you are possibly going to move, they are going to take that advantage to make your life where you are so miserable that you will HAVE to move before you and your new place is ready. :rant Maybe I am wrong about that but judging from your past posts I think you must be a long lost sister ... my family acts just like yours! :hu

We aren't taking steps to get the place until after we get home from the hospital later this week. The realtor is sending us some information to help us with the farm loan as well as the map.

We're wondering if we couldn't put up the deed to this place to get that place :p Might check into it. Who knows, right?

Keeping it quiet from the family won't be too hard, since we haven't heard high nor hair from them since Ernie told them he didn't want to ever see them again. Most of the trees and stuff we want to transplant are small, and they don't even know we have them, so they won't be missed.

If we make it look like we're cleaning the place up, they aren't going to have a clue. Considering we can take an alternate route, so we never pass FIL's place, lol, they won't even see when we take the cows out. If they happen to show up, "Oh we don't have them here anymore." Not a lie, and I can't help it if they assume we sold them.

Figure we'll move all the chickens into one pen, make it look like we're consolidating all into one coop...take down the kennel and layer coop and move them first.......

Uh, yea...we've been laying out a plan...before we even found this place!

They can try to make us move, but legally, they can't make us move. They have to buy our third out if they want to evict us. :p And I won't make it cheap for them, either!

ETA: We've actually been to the place twice. First on Friday, after which we immediately called the realtor and asked to see the inside of the house. She scheduled for this morning, so we met her out there and were so excited we were almost sick.

Since Friday, Ernie and I have both had dreams about that place. Ernie's dream of course had to do with the pond, and my dream was Christmas, with our tree in one of those big windows and the pine outside decorated with Christmas lights. :D

We could both see the yard and how we'd have it laid out for the kids to play, chicken coops, the garden, etc.

Quail, I see that your are considering buying an outdoor spigot with a sink next to it. Not only that, but these two items are surrounded by 6 plus acres with a house, pond, barn and some out buildings. How cool is that! Hoping for the best!!!!!!! :fl

We're going to be leaving here in a bit for the hospital so Ernie can get his pre-op bloodwork and whatever else they need done. We won't be home until after his operation.

We're stopping in to visit with keljonma this evening, and leaving from her house in the morning to go back to the hospital for his surgery. Keljonma and her husband are being very gracious and kind, putting up with us for a night  (to be honest, I'm looking forward to the chance for a visit with her again, and won't be rushing to go home!)

Best prognosis, we'll be home sometime on Wednesday.....and I don't want to even think about what the worst would be.

My mom's staying here to take care of our children and farm stuff and critters while we're gone.

Hope ya'll have a great few days.
