Oh, it's all good. There is always so much to catch up on even after only a few days. You have so much going on there at your place. :D

Well I got that pallets were involved from the first post..:smack

I am guessing that everyone picks up pallets for free....do you ask if you can take them, like if they are by a commercial trash can or stacked on the side of a building? I thought that company's got a credit when they returned the pallets so taking them would be kind of stealing.

Patiently waiting for more coop info :pop

You can get pallets from furniture stores all the time if you just ask.

Aly, I can't believe you went to Lehman's and only got cookie cutters! I would be in sooooooo much trouble if I went in there!

I don't steal the pallets  There are places around here that do sell pallets for 50 cents each, but I just wait until my friend Becca says she has extras from work, that she gets when her work allows her to, and I just pick up from her...:p She's great about sharing that way! :D

Hint 2...coop involves an old desk that was left out in the weather.......

pics coming soon.

There are pallets for free all over the place around here, so many that hubby is picky about what he picks up.

We were at Bi-Lo today and dh said he had to purchase gas for his car. Gas is still $2.33/gallon here. We knew we had enough points to take the gas price down to $1.45/gallon. But dh brought a list of "needs" for the pantry and lunch makings. So we spent another $50 and got another dime off per gallon. Then, as we were checking out, the customer service desk announed that between 11 am and 4 pm today they were reducing gas price by 5 cents a gallon. So we paid $1.30/gallon! It was soooo nice! :celebrate

It is really rare here to find free pallets; most want to sell them.

What is going into the desk/pallet coop? And if there are drawers, are you using them for nest boxes?

edited for typo

This is one draw to the desk, but I can't put it in the desk as a nest box, but might cut it up and re-work it into a nesting box.

Ernie said with my luck, I'm probably renovating a 200 year old antique desk worth a bunch of money ROTFL So I retorted, that's ok, my chickens are worth thousands anyway :gig

This is what I started with...

And this is as far as we got today..

I've a dowel rod we plan to use for a roost. The back will be completely closed with a door included for easy cleaning. Not sure what side I'm putting the nest box yet...Also, the front will have a small pop door cut out and a window and I'll have a small enclosed run off the front that also allows them access underneath their house.

It's going to house bantams of course!
