So sorry about Gwen. I do hope you get lots of girls. The young poult I have is hers, right?

I'm building a hoop house, and I'm hearing they are good for turkey year round. Each cattle panel was like $20 at TSC. They are 4 x 16 feet. It takes two for the standard hoop house that is like 8 x 8. You could put 2 together for a large turkey pen.

I hope little E had a great day! :)

:caf I think she is still having phone issues and is probably about ready to shoot someone. ;)
THAT'S an understatement!

Phone is working, but has so much static in the line that it prevents me from dialing up the internet...so I'm at the library again.

Will put up pictures of my new hatchlings (we lost one silkie chick) as soon as I can access the internet from home again.

FF, Blue Royal Palms are a cross between Royal Palms and Blue Slate Turkeys. My breed goal is a blue turkey with the black banding of the royal palm. I think that would be quite eye catching. Don't you? :)

Becca, someone on BYC emailed me the hoop house plans, and I had planned to try to build one. I'll have to figure out a time/day when I can skiddadle to your house and take a gander at your hoop house.

That sounds quite beautiful Quail. Plus most of the Royal Palms I have seen seem to be bigger and more meaty than the Slates. It would be a good cross.

So sorry about Gwen, poor thing. I hate it when something like that happens.

As for the family drama, you can always move to Va here closer to me! There's lots of stuff here for sale....good prices too! ;)

No more static! Phone is good for now, :D and I'm online at HOME! :celebrate

The regional office called me this morning and explained part of the problem is we're on what's called a carrier line. That means there's 8 of us on one phone line, that splits off into our individual homes. That is why we cannot get DSL and why when the phone goes out there's problems fixing it.

Soooo the lady at the regional office is working to get us OFF the carrier lines and onto the new phone cables so we won't have the static problems anymore when the phone lines go down and need repaired AND so we'll have DSL available to our area!! :th I thought it was great that she's trying, but I'm not holding my breath!

The phone company has also promised to make things right with us, and they are going to credit my phone for every 24 hour period that I was without service! :ya

Glad to hear things are improving with the phone/internet on the home front. That is wonderful news about the credits they will be giving you!

The new area we are in only has one available phone/internet carrier. And it is different from the one we had at the farm. I am not impressed by Embarq's customer service so far. Still no internet at home and all the csr can say is... "your connection looks fine at my end!" :barnie :smack

FINALLY! I have convinced Sam (whom Ernie is now calling Grant, another story will tell in a minute) and the First Ladies to waltz our yard!!!!!!!! :celebrate

The Ladies and Sam "Grant" have been refusing to come out of the coop/run area since they got here. Yesterday was the first day I finally convinced them to meander out of the run gate. Today, they needed very little coaxing! Sam "Grant" met me at my mom's car yesterday. For just a minute, he had the familiar glint to his eyes that made me think he was going to try his rooster business on us, but then he turned and went back to pecking in the yard.

Today, Betty, Pat, and Francis are all moseying around under the light pole. Eleanor prefers the pasture field, Sam is hiding out under the cherry tree, Lou takes a turn around the exterior of all the coops and runs, and the rest of them, while they are coming out beyond the gate, are still sticking pretty close to the coop.

I'm just so happy to see them starting back to normal behaviors!

Frances with an E is female. Francis with an I is male. :D Is Frances done molting and starting to look a bit better?

That is wonderful news. I am glad that the flock is getting well adjusted. Ya know, Sam is only "Sam" and not Ulysses, because his missus, Julia Dent Grant, called him Sam. Calling him Grant would fit in with the names used for the males of the Fab 5.... Its wonderful to hear that Sam isn't misbehaving!
