That "farmville bug" is a bad one. Hard to get any real work done sometimes. I also found that whenever I go on facebook and play the games, my computer gets stuck and I end up having to reboot :he
I got to get DD's boyfriend to come and fix it.

Well....I have sneaky chickens!

I have two chicks under my Silkie hen. I had stuffed 3 BLRW eggs from my own flock under her. One exploded about a week ago, so I had to clean that out.

Today, she has two chicks, and only ONE is a BLRW!!!!!! The other one is another Pheonix Mille Fleur cross!!!!!! THAT SNEAKY PHEONIX HEN OF MINE HAD LAID HER EGG IN A BLRW NEST! :smack

Sooooooo, I have one BLRW chick nad one Pheonix mixed chick.

She hasn't brought them out yet for me to get pictures, but both are very cute.

FarmerDenise, the "farmville bug" is horrible! and contagious! I posted on BYC that I needed more neighbors, and I have a whole SLEW of friends! I had to send gifts of a cow to a bunch of people!!!

Hey, where's my chicken?! :gig

Well, we had a good day.

Started off going to church. Visted the Church that Becca and her mom attend. It's a small congregation, but it was very nice, and Ernie even seemed to enjoy it and feel comfortable.

Of course, just a little bit ago he informed me that his favorite part was during the morning Sunday class, before worship. Becca and I have another friend who also attends this church with her family. This friend and her husband were kind of bantering back and forth, harrassing eachother during class. All in good fun, but Ernie said it was better than T.V.

So now, I'm not sure if he wants to go again because he enjoyed the service, or because he enjoyed watching them? :/ Either way, pick my battles, he went to church! God can take it from there! And he said as long as we continue to have the gas (God, I'm leaving that to you!) to get there, we'll continue to attend.

Came home and checked on the Venison Roast that I had in the oven. I have popped it in with some potatoes before church. Didn't have any baby carrots, or regular carrots, so we cheated and added canned carrots. Becca's mom came over to have dinner with us at our invitation. We had a nice visit, and Becca's mom said she really enjoyed the meal. She had brought some of her frozen corn and a loaf of homemade bread that she had picked up at the Carrollton Farmer's market and a watermelon for dessert. The kids loved the watermelon!

After we ate, I took her outside and let her peek at mine and Becca's call ducks. She thought they were very pretty, and commented that they resembled doves. Which is exactly what Ernie said about them LOL We had a good chuckle over that.

After Becca's mom went home, DD and I cleared the table and Ernie and I decided to have a cup of coffee while he finished watching the NASCAR race. While he watched the race, I played some FarmVille....yes, I know it's ironic because I've got a living farm in my back yard, but it's still fun! :p

Once the race was over we cleaned up the living room some and I cleaned out the ferrets cage. Speaking of ferrets, we rehomed Mocha the Biter today. She made all the other fuzzies miserable, and she went to live with our friend's ex-husband who was looking for a second ferret. There has been NO squabbles in the cage today, and we made sure her new owner was aware that she BITES and draws blood.

Then we put a new corner china cabinet that my parents gave us in the corner. I'm not sure what I'm going to put in it yet, I mean, I know I'm going to put some of my livingroom decor in it, just not sure which pieces yet. Probably the deer statues or my snow globes....

Then I went out and cleaned the call ducks ponds. They make those messy pretty quick. I had to drain all the water, which I pitched onto the compost pile, and then swish the feathers, feed, and poop out of the bottom. Each tub took 10 gallons of clean water to fill up. Becca's pen of calls were soooooooooo excited over their new clean water that they managed to flap up a tidal wave.....and I got a good dousing as I was standing right next to their pen.

Then I came in and plopped on here, put up the new POW and trying to play a little FarmVille, but it's not easy to play it on dial up LOLOLOL

Will probably head to bed soon, as tomorrow I've a busy day with taking a goat to the auction and all.....

I am picturing the hens running around the farm yard in trench coats, fedoras, and sunglasses.... or maybe they are in camo..... they are hiding behind trees waiting for you to leave the area so they can sneak in and lay where they shouldn't.

Covert operations, definitely!

It sounds like you had a wonderful Sunday and a great visit with Becca and her mom.

Lunch sounds like it was delicious. Did you do anything special to the vension (seasoning)? I only cooked vension once, when someone gave us some ground. It wasn't a favorite with the kids, so I am sure a different cut or different seasonings might have helped.

Was Mocha one of your ferret rescues?

I don't do anything special with the venison. I season it much like I would a beef roast...salt, pepper, basil, oregano, minced onion, maybe some garlic....add carrots and potatos and maybe an onion....put it in the oven at 350....I usually put my meat in the night before and cook at 175 all night, seasoned only, and then add the veggies in the morning and turn the temp up to 350. By the time it's ready to serve at noon, the meat's so tender it falls apart.

Mocha was sorta a rescue. She didn't come from a shelter, but was surrendered by her previous owner to a private breeder. The breeder contacted me to see if I'd take her. Only AFTER I took her, did they tell me she bites. We've had her for a year. I figured I could work with her and train her not to bite. It's not worked. Couple weeks ago she bit the baby. That was the finally straw for me, as when she bit him, she clamped down and it took us several minutes to get her to let go. I decided she was too dangerous to have around the kids, so we rehomed her.

The remaning 5 fuzzies, Kodo, River, Meeko, Tiko, and Chance, are all much happier, too, it seems. There wasn't a single spat in their cage all day yesterday, and no fighting over bedding. No screaming, squealing, or upset hissing from any of the wees. Obviously, Mocha was a HUGE problem.

She's not too far away, and I'm sure I'll get updates to how she's doing.

boy that venison roast sounds good. I may have to do that this week, I have a couple of roasts from last year that I need to use up before we start hunting again. (I'm being optomistic!!!) I usually cook mine in the pressure cooker but I might try one in the oven for a change.

Do you guys ground any of your own meat?

I always thought ferrets were pretty cool. Never had one tho, as a Kid we could only afford guinea pigs and now I have two big dogs that sleep and chill in the house at their own accord. I have a feeling anything looking like a rodent would NOT stand a chance. Our 3 yr old however would be overjoyed to have a rodent or reptile as an inside pet. We still have not broke him from fishing in the fish tanks.

Thats right, you guys will have your own venison once the fawn grows up! Mm mmm!
We no longer have the fawn. :( He passed away about a week after we found him.

Took the two wethers to the auction today. That was an adventure!

My friend, R, said we could haul the goats in the back of her vehicle. So she came up this morning to load up the goats. We went in for the first goat, both grabbed him by a horn, and hauled him to her car, which we had parked right by the gate to the pen. Ernie stood guard over the first goat, making sure he didn't jump out, while we went back for the second goat.

Total fiasco!

We corner the second goat into the play house. I reach in and pull him out by one horn. R grabs his other horn, and I'm not sure what he did, but her reaction sent me into a fit of giggles! Not only did I giggle, but her indignant, "Aly, stop giggling!" sent me into a full out, belly holding laugh! I lost my grip on the goat, next thing we know, she's got this wild wether on her hands as he's jumping, leaping, and kicking, wildly trying to get away. She's holding on to one horn with all her might, and I'm at this point doubled over, holding my stomach, in a full uncontrollable laugh!

She's screaming at me, "Aly, stop laughing! You're supposed to be helping! Grab the goat!"

Folks, the more she yelled at me, the wilder that goat got, and the funnier it was! I just couldn't stop laughing! I'm staggering around that pen, laughing my fool head off, trying to grab the goat, and she's screaming. It was great!

I finally get myself somewhat under control, and I again grab on. We open the gate, and the demon goat bucks and leaps and gets out of our grasp. Thankfully he was pretty easy to chase back into the pen. I took over standing guard of the first goat already in the car, and Ernie helped R grab and load the second, because  obviously I was no help :gig

Got them to the auction with no problem. Sold them for a pretty penny! I was pleased!

I brought home a brown and white mini rex rabbit, that's obviously bred, so I'm going to have baby bunnies again! :weee

Other than that, helped Becca get her calls home and made a connection with a lady who might be buying one of the two Nanny's we have left.

I'm trying to decide if I want to keep the other Nanny until she kids out or just go ahead and run her up to the auction in a week or so. Will have to think on that.
