It was kind of overcast and cool, but we did get the garden tilled and I cleaned out the call ducks water tub and cleaned the ferret cage today. Plus we went to the laundromat and got two loads of wash done.

20 white leghorn hens and 1 white rock hen!!!!!!!!!! FREE!!!!!!!!
brought them home after a mad dash through their mud hole (that they called a chicken coop).
Kind of a bedraggled, molting bunch.
I think I'm going to run some up to the auction tomorrow, take some to the swap...what doesn't sell at the swap next weekend will go to next Monday's auction.
I'm not messing with White Leghorns. Nope. Not at all. They are going as fast as they can.
They also gave us 2 feeders and 4 one gallon waterers.
I plan to scrub those up good.

Me too! The hens I picked up today are just 1 year olds as well. They wanted them gone because the wife has emphysema and I guess the chicken dander made things worse for her. So, the chickens are here now.keljonma said:

on a serious note - there have been tons of people on CL that are dumping their animals. i'm guessing there will be more as fewer folks want to overwinter their critters. i'm keepin' my eyes open for good deals
