My but we had a boring 4H meeting tonight...but wait, ya'll don't wanna hear about that boring meeting...you want PIGGIE PORN!

er, I mean....

PIGGIE PICS!!! :woot

First, I'd like ya'll to meet Bacon! He's BeccaOh's piggie. He's a nice and stocky little piggie!

This is Hambone! He's the piggie E picked out. He also is the most aggressive of the four, and he already tried to bite E! TWICE! (although he looooves me and has met me at the gate to his pen everytime I've gone out.)

This little piggie is Porkchop! She was the first piggie we actually picked out, but sadly, looks like my parents will be eating her. :(

another view of Porkchop. :)

And, this is Miss Bella...she has a none food related name because originally we were thinking we'd keep one to breed, but we don't want to house a useless pig for a year before we get a boar, and then have to wait another xx amount of time before we can breed him to her. KWIM?

So, looks like everyone's up for the chopping block in a few months....and yummy pork will be in my freezer!!

Now, just need my meat chickens and to butcher either Chase or Boss this fall, and we're set in the meat department! :woot

here's another piggie shot...from top to bottom: Bacon, Hambone, and Bella. :D

I like hambone, E will get the final laugh on that one. When he bites him back!!!! They are really cut but I am very excited to see you get going on processing your own meats. About how much do they weigh?

So do you think the chain link is going to hold them?? Do you have plans to reinforce the bottom? I can't imagine 1000 lbs of pork against it.

Can you keep a log and keep taking pics. Imagine, your 4th of July BBQ. :drool

They each weigh about 20 lbs right now, and no, that kennel will not be enough to hold them.

It will do temporarily, tho, while we're fixing up their permanent (and last I might add) home.

I'll try to keep a log on them, and of course I'll be taking pics!

Good possibility that they might make some of the fixin's for the SS camp over. :drool

Thanks ya'll!

Oinkers are doing good this morning. I went out to check on them and they were all snuggled down in their straw bed in their house.

A total awwww moment.

Then I came in and started cooking some sausage links and thinking how much better sausage is gonna taste when it comes from my own pig! :drool

It started snowing a bit this morning, so we have a light dusting. Got the day's school assignments ready for the kiddos for today.

Later today, I'm taking my Lop Bunny Daisy to friend R and getting 3 adult Heinz 57 rabbits in trade. Daisy originally came from friend R, and since I don't have a male lop, there's no sense feeding that I have no mate for, who's not going to earn her keep.

I guess I could cross her with a plain rabbit, but I don't really want to do that, and my friend R really wants to focus on breeding the lops. I'm hoping to work with my mini rexes for awhile and the plain rabbits, and hopefully save back some money from their litters to buy a trio of Silver Martins. Those are my absolute favorite rabbits!
