It's a miracle any child survives. Human beings start out so dang dumb and with NO sense of self preservation. My kids aren't that bad at destroying things, because they knew I'd light up their back side for breaking things purposely, then again...I have girls. My brother was a terror. I did set the house on fire once, but it took months to burn anything. I tinkered with one of the wall unit heaters in my bedroom that the power was cut off to, and then when they replaced that breaker the following Fall it caught a stack of blankets on fire. I put it out myself though...and mama knocked my halo off my head  Kids are dangerous, I don't recommend keeping too many of them at a time  They're like goats, they get into EVERYTHING!

Auntie's Max... need new words for his level of destructo magic lol.
It would be really funny if it was happening to someone else!!! :gig

The latest? The neighbor asks me "Is there any reason there is a broken chair in the greenway between our houses?" Apparently the chair broke, so Max threw it out his window :: facepalm ::

Oh yeah ... one of my little dears painted all over an antique bedroom set, bed, dresser AND vanity with red fingernail polish.

Also any item with an electric cord was fair game for my GEEK son. He would unplug it and take it apart to see how it worked. BTW he still does this and sometimes even gets paid to do it.

No QA you are not alone.....and I'm glad to know we're not alone either. Our 2 boys (10 & 12) are walking disasters, I swear. DH has had to patch many a hole in the drywall too. It didn't help that they poked thru the patches too :he The other night DS12 was throwing his pocket knife at the wall just to see if he could get it to stick :he They have done target practice (airsoft guns, bows & arrows) on our fruit trees, the ice cream buckets I use for chicken waterers & feeders, etc :smack Yes, they have a selection of weapons AND they do know weapon safety rules and MOST of the time they observe those rules diligently. So far, no dogs or chickens have been shot.
I don't remember now what the conversation was about, but the other day I was mad at them for something they had done and I told them "I now know why some animals EAT THEIR YOUNG!" :somad

Oh wait.....that's right...my boys are innocent, they didn't do it.....apparently we have ghosts in our house! :barnie

Lol, and then people wonder why I'm ok not having kids :p

The only stupid thing I did when I was younger was putting my foot through the wall because I was angry :D I was always the good one, mainly because I was always lost in a book :D My sisters, on the other hand, hooo boy!! My mother and one of my stepsisters got into such a fight once that my mom picked up my stepsister (and she was 18 or 19 at the time) and tossed her across her room so she landed on her bed, but it was still scary! I'd also like to point out that on a good day my mother is maybe 5'4" tall, but she is strong all out of proportion to her height! :D

Just keep repeating, about your sons and about the strike "This too shall pass" and then have some pie! :)

:hugs

My SO has enough problems with our dogs and cats and the various things he has to say to them  "Stop licking the floor!" "Stop licking the oven door!" "Stop vulturing the dogs!" :gig and my personal favorite "Houdini! Stop licking Argos there!" :gig :gig   my SO with kids would be something else :D

Today we went to the neighbors and helped her pick her peaches (ok, E and the kids picked, I sat with my ankled propped up). We came back with 5 bags of peaches. I gave one bag to BeccaOh's mom, another is going to my Aunt tomorrow - and I'm not sure what I'll do with the remaining 3 because I don't think we need them ALL. Maybe freeze some for pies.

I don't think I like evening VBS. I feel like by the time we get stuff done and get to making dinner, dinner has to be rushed to make sure the kids are ready to go. Today we had pork chops for dinner with green beans and carrots, and I was worried about the kids not having enough because while I gave them BIG servings, they didn't get the chance for seconds. They said they had plenty, though. :(

This evening Little Boy (who's too young to go to VBS) and I are going to go spend some quality time with the chickens and maybe read a book.

Tomorrow, we're setting up for the community yard sale our little village is having. Hoping that we move a LOT of the stuff we've decided to part with. I have a couple of piles of stuff that we've not used or looked at in awhile, so it's going out on the tables.

In the mail today we got a nice surprise - an Aunt in TN mailed us a gift card to do some shopping for Baby Girl. I was really tickled! So now I have 3 gift cards to go shopping with.

We've also been given 3 packages of Huggies diapers. My oldest kids were all allergic to Huggies, so I've not used them. I think I will take them to town with us whenever we go to do the baby shopping and exchange them for either another size/brand of diapers or something else we might need/want for the baby.

Tomorrow I hope to get more accomplished than I did today, but not sure with the yard sale.

Yeah, I definitely liked the daytime VBS better than the nighttime one we attended. The daytime one with our church was 9:30-noon so I fed them breakfast and then picked them up and went home for lunch and had the rest of the day to do whatever. The one at my mom's church was from 5pm-8:30 every night. It was exhausting. They provided dinner at 5 but they were really stingy with they portions this year and every night my kids (and everyone else's for that matter) complained they were hungry so I was feeding them at 9-9:30 every night and I had to bring my own dinner cause i was allergic to most of what they had to offer. 4 Pizza rolls a few carrot sticks are not dinner. They didn't get to bed most nights until 10. That is too late for a 4 yr old, I'm sorry. The one night I let them ride the church van home they didn't even get home until 10pm and then they had napped on the van and were wide awake until 2am. Not good.

Kids are destructive by nature I think....my two are constantly getting into stuff. Sometimes I just have to step back to keep my cool and sometimes I just have to turn around and laugh at what they do. They justify the trouble they get into in the funniest ways sometimes.

I hit my little brother in the head with a hoe and sent him to the hospital, my cousin threw mud in his eyes during a mud fight and we had to send him to the hospital to have his eyes flushed out, I locked him in an outhouse where he promptly impaled his hand with a nail while banging on the door and had to send him to the hospital, he retaliated by winding my hair up in my grandmother's massager moter, totalling my new car by driving it under a parked tractor trailer, we stole hubcaps off my great granddaddy's truck to use as toilets in the hay loft of the barn, we let the cows out of the fence and had to throw walnuts at them to get them back in, I stepped on a nail outside the milk house and had to go to the hospital for a tetanus shot, we constantly got into trouble but thank goodness most of what we did was outside. We lived but I agree, there is a reason why our children aren't supposed to live with us forever

Today was another wonderfully blessed day!

We got a car! whoot! and I was able to transfer the tags from the van we scrapped to the car, so saved money by transferring tags WHOOP!

Had a yard sale - and did pretty well! Still got stuff to sell, but E said he's whipped and doesn't want to set up again tomorrow (I'm like aww man! lol)

Donated 3 bags of kids clothes to the local Wellspring today. YAY! They do NOT re-sell the clothing, instead they give it away to mom's who have a need. Moms can come in 1 time a month and get up to six items per child FREE! I have some duplicate and extra baby stuff I plan to take down to them next week, too. :)

Making tacos for dinner, because it's quick and the kids will have time to eat it before VBS tonight.

After the kids are gone, going to sneak down to the Dairy Bar for a cool treat (chocolate milkshake) just to celebrate the blessed week we've had! :)

I had an Aunt stop in today, gave her 2 bags of peaches, and she brought us a huge sandwich tomato and bananas for the kids. She also gave me money towards meat birds, and said they would like to get 5!

Then she asked E if they could plant a garden here next year if they come and work it! He said yes! Their property is ALL shade, so they've not had a good garden spot - they are literally in the woods. They don't get enough sun.

In trade for giving them a garden spot, we are getting Tulip Poplars from their property! YAY!

Thought of you today. I was at our farmer's market and stopped by the bee lady's booth. She had a flier on her 'sponsor a hive' program. Basically, you can buy 3 levels of hive sponsorship as a gift for someone. (Think honey CSA). It may be an idea to help you get money up front to get more hives if you're interested. Here is a link to her site with the particulars.
