Yep, I'm super excited.

It means several things for us - that I don't feel I should share about right now :) But maybe can in a few weeks. :)

Now for a little more about the kids and the park yesterday.

Even though it was just a day trip to a local park with amusement rides, it totally felt like a mini vacation for me! the kids had a blast! there was a kiddie roller coaster, that my 12 year old told E was super scary and we cracked up laughing - this thing maybe goes 6 ft in the air and at the most, 35 mph. LOL!

They rode the ferris wheel, the swings (I don't know how to describe this ride, but it wasn't playground swings!), had a train ride around part of the park, rode the merry go round (which 6 yr old DID NOT like, but baby boy loved and asked to ride again). The younger 3 kids were all small enough to ride the "kiddie rides" which were cars that went in a circle, and two airplane rides that went up in the air. They LOVED it.

Rides were 75 cents each or $7 for a ticket card for 10 rides, which is uber cheap compared to "real" amusement parks. Plus there's tons of free playground equipment, which 3 yr old loved! There's also swimming/diving pools and a kiddie pool for the little ones (we didn't do swimming).

It was almost 10 pm before we got home! My parents finished the day off by treating all the kids to Dairy Queen, and even bought them chocolate - we usually do vanilla, less staining on clothes (i'm so not fun lol) - so they thought it was a HUGE deal to have chocolate ice cream cones! lol

It was their end of the summer treat, and a special day for our second oldest son as tomorrow is his b-day.

The coolest thing was, my step dad was going to buy 4 ticket cards (10 rides per card) but while we were waiting in line, this lady walks up and handed me about 19 individual tickets! FREE! she said they were done for the day, and were heading home as soon as her grands got out of the pool. Mom and I both asked her if she was sure, and she said absolutely! Have fun! Meanwhile, my step dad is buying the ride cards, and another park customer hands him a FIFTH ride card with only ONE ride used off it! :th

We ended up with about 68 tickets for rides! :th

There was one full and one partial card left by the end of the day. Wednesday I have to go back to town for a dr. appt, so mom gave me the partial ticket with 4 rides left on it so E and I can take Baby Boy back for a couple rides after my Dr appt. That's the best part about the ride cards, you can save them for another day! :)

So with the car show, and then the 4 hours at the park yesterday, it was a long, but exhausting day, but was really worth it.

Oh, and before getting to the park, Grandma and Grandpa treated everyone to a 59 cent drink (pop ew) from the Circle K and a $1 McDouble from McD's (double ew) but I didn't complain, because it was a real treat for the kids and my parents don't do this too often, so I just sat back and let my kids enjoy all the junk food :D

Making up for the junk food (which included two ice cream cones yesterday!) today by feeding them eggs and bacon for breakfast :D

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Sounds like ya'll had an old fashioned fair experience and thats awesome! It's always great to celebrate the end of something (like summer) and the beginning of something (like school) so the kids don't get as upset about it! :)

Had an OK time at the back to school rally - if you consider being 9 months preggers and carrying 4 bags that felt like they weighed 25# each filled with free school supplies and trying to keep tabs on 4 kids as a good time.

With 500 other screaming kids and 9 bounce houses....I think I almost lost my sanity.

I told my kids to hit every table that was handing out free supplies BEFORE they could go play. They did. End results? Got almost everything needed for first day PLUS extras!

Extras have gone into a tote tub, and I did a count and wow! I have enough to supply them next year, if they don't go through it all this year!

Book bags are all packed and waiting for tomorrow morning.

Also signed baby boy up for headstart! He should start next week. :D

I've never really understood what the reasoning is for headstart. Why do people take their kids there? Is it just so they have the interaction with other children? Is it to help the slow ones catch up to their year mates? Growing up my mother was a single mom until I was three and then I had sisters until I was nine and then she was single again :) Whenever I was watched by my grandmother or my great aunt they taught me how to do numbers and letters and by time I was three I was reading first grade books (not because I was more intelligent, just because they taught me how :) ) and I never had a problem in school. At least not with the learning. The handing in of the homework sure, but not the learning :) My older sisters were all in daycare and headstart and in alot of ways they were actually behind me and I was the youngest. Sorry, gonna shut up now :hide :hu

Our reason for him going to headstart is because last year he cried and cried and cried when his siblings got on the bus and he didn't. He'll only be going in the afternoon, and our program allows parent interaction - unlike the public school system. I can go to school with him for the whole time, too, if I choose.

Also, since we're having a baby, it will REALLY help to have that 4 hours each day that he'll be out of the house while I'm recuperating from my c-section. :hide It may mean I can take a nap every afternoon before the older kids get home, and my hubs can be outside getting stuff done.

I also like that he'll get to go play with other kids his age.

My husband likes that he won't have school on Fridays.

I know it sounds really selfish. :hide

No! Not at all! I was genuinely curious! I think those are all excellent reasons! (not that what I think matters, but still :) ) I was just wondering because it was something I never experienced. My mother made just enough to not qualify for the low income and not enough to actually pay for it so I spent my time between my grans and my great aunts :) and then when i had sisters we all spent time there. Cool on the free supplies too! I think a friend of mine took advantage of something like that too to help her kids out :)
