That's a nice story about your son ;)

You might add vinegar to you wash to help clean your clothes. Lots of times I just add the vinegar to help freshen the clothes up, when they aren't really dirty.

It's amazing how we can manage without store bought stuff, when we really have to.

We have an extended cab chevy 3500 4x4 with a huge wench/brushguard bumber and a cm flatbed with built in ratchet thingies. It is a big nice good running truck and can go through anything. We used it to pull our backhoe a couple of times, but other than that it is the family vehicle. It is our only really good running vehicle so we take it just about everywhere. It makes about 6 miles to the gallon, and with dh laid off it would be way better to have something with better mileage even if we have to make a small payment. The car is having problems with running hot when you take it very far(over 20 miles). So we are going to go today and try to trade the old truck in. We are HOPING to trade for a good older truck with a smaller motor straight across. Probably won't happen, but I can hope!

Well, we got a new vehicle. We went first to one place where dh had his eye on a diesel that was supposed to get really good mileage, but it was 3 years older than our truck, had 50,000 more miles on it and kinda shifted hard when we test drove it. The salesman test drove our truck. Found NOTHING wrong with it, but said since it had a 454 motor it was only worth $2000 and he would finance the difference on the other truck, which was $2800 for around $266 mnth. And it came with no warranty. Soooo.... I asked him "You're wanting to give us $2000 for our GOOD truck and wanting to sell us one that is older, with WAY more miles and have us pay an extra $2800 for a truck we know nothing about and not even offer us a warranty?!?" He was already trying to draw up the papers and convince my dh that it we would be getting a super deal. He even offered to let us keep the truck for a day and use it to see if we liked it. We said no. We then left. We went to another lot where we were offered nearly double what the first had offered and offered an "05 Mercury Sable for $194 a month. It had heated leather seats AND a sunroof! It is now sitting in our driveway, and I don't feel the least bad about getting it with our limited income because the monthly payment will still be less than we were paying for gas in the truck per month!! During the time we were car shopping my dh found it quite funny that according to him I was "scaring the salesmen" who seemed to get frightened looks when I came around according to him. I did gripe at the first one who was trying to rip us off and I didn't tell the rest of the story on that, leave it that he was truly trying to cheat us. And the other one had taken a chewing in the past over an older vehicle that we bought from him before that caught fire on the way home with me and the kids in it. Well, he and the rest of the office ALL took that chewing. Dh said I was a mean person. I don't think I'm mean-just no nonsense kinda person. He says I'm just mean.

And sometimes that kind of mean pays off! ;)

People often come to get me when they are ready to close a deal on something ... I can get a little mean too. :)

My DH says I have a mean streak too. He won't even let me go with him to do any dealing,...but he is a pushover and someone has to be the mean one, right? :D Congrats on the new car !

That is what my problem was- dh is a pushover. We have been ripped off so many times that I have come to learn that if I don't say anything then it will happen again. I still dont TRY to be mean, just direct and in the open. Dh and step fil were rollling out of the chairs when dh was telling him about going car shopping with me. Kinda hurt my feelings.
