I think, rebecca, you need to be looking for a little work harness and a single bottom walking plow for your hubbies birthday! Put those little beasts (dh included in this) to work plowing the garden! :gig

Is it a mini mule or donkey?

Either way, I agree with FarmFresh, put them to work. :p The ultimate SS hookup, a mule!! Woot!

Also it will protect your farm against coyotes and stray dogs, even your own dog, so be careful. They have very cute personalities too.

I'll trade ya, a pig for a mule! ;)

POST PICS!!!!!

 one person's trash is another one's treasure - I would LOVE to have that mini mule!
I agree - put it to work. It could learn to pull a cart, it could pull a plow, it could carry your gear if you like to hike or camp... and $50 is a STEAL!!! Of course, I guess if you aren't interested in any of those things, $50 is expensive for just another mouth to feed. I hope it ends up working out for you & for the mini!

LOL That's a good idea. I already have a harness for a mini, I'll just have to come up with a plow..... :p I'll take some pics when we pick it up this evening. It's momma was a paint mini horse and it's dad was a small donkey? and from what I saw of it running past, I think it is donkey colored with white stockings. I don't even know if it is a boy or girl!

You got yourself a mini mule then! :p

I don't know much about the mini version, but mules make wonderful work animals, they don't spook or get flustered under pressure and they are very sure footed and strong. That is why they use them on those itty bitty trails overlooking a 1000+ foot cliff in the Grand Canyon.

Yea for you! (Usually if you cant see if it is a "girl" or a "boy" just by looking, it is a girl. Anyone know if "jenny" or "jack" is also a term to describe mules too or is it just donkeys?)

I think a mini anything would be great. Less food, and less space. But hey like Dace said, maybe because it's not in my yard. Come to think of it my dog is about that big. Maybe I should hook a plow to him. :gig

Congratulations. Next time it runs by snap a picture for us!!!

Don't under estimate the power of a pony ... mule or not. I have seen mighty roots pulled out by a 36" Shetland and used to plow OUR garden with a 50" tall Welsh/Hackney cross.

They can pull about twice their weight!
