Well in reading about it, I see one of my challenges is going to be clean, unwashed eggs. This place is always awash in mud, and what I've been reading calls for clean, unwashed eggs. I do get the occasional chicken egg that is clean, but not duck.

I had a very non-productive day so far, I was barely getting started to my day when I felt ill and took a nap. Now I wake up and the day is gone! Sheesh. Chores are not done and no one made Trouble do them, he was playing computer games! :he I ask Hubby about it and he is like, "Huh?" :somad So of course I am the big meaney waking up and telling him to do the dishes and take care of his mess. :smack It is hard to be real judgemental of everyone though when you have been napping literally all day. :duc

Well, you sorta have an excuse!

Don't worry about clean 'unwashed' eggs. If they're that dirty you can dry them and then use a towel or napkin to wipe off the dried mud/poo.

the first time I hatched eggs I actually washed each and every one with soap and water....

I ended up with a 70% hatch rate I think...

What hatches hatches, what doesnt gets tossed (to see if it explodes )
ME TOO!!! We take a nice walk down to the stream and little g tosses them onto the rocks. Heaven forbid that smell makes its way up to the house!

Okay, so clean eggs would be ideal but not essential. I think I could manage to get clean chicken eggs but duck, gosh, the duck eggs almost always are muddy.

Having a yummy dinner right now, there was ready-made chicken florentine in the half-off bin because it was day old, but it is GREAT and I made asparagas and baked potato with it. Yum! :drool

Pfffffff! You get too much done to worry about when you manage to sneak naps in.

I've been known to nap all day when not feeling well....

But I got a lot done today. I am exhausted but it feels good. We had a nice warm sunshiny day. :bow

I did three loads of wash and dried it on the line. Yay! :thumbsup
We got the chicken coop all cleaned up and fresh shavings finally, They seem happy.
:thumbsup
We scrubbed the duck pond and raked the goat pen and took out wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow of goat dung and put it in useful spots in the yard. Actually, Trouble did that and I just kept cracking the whip. But I was working on everything too. I rearraned the goat playground and we put shavings down in there. Yesterday I trimmed the goat hooves with my new tool, Yay! :weee
and I hope to see an improvement in their feet. The goats really appreciate the shavings too and were acting goofy, laying down in them blissfully. I made them some ramps and a climbing playground out of our junk and they are having a grand time. The shriveled bits still cling to the poor wether's underparts.....

Hubby made our ramp leading out to the back much safer by putting slats acrost, almost like steps. Hopefully no more falling!

The baby bunnys are so flippin' cute, it isn't even funny. Trouble says they "have fun" and it is true, they are hopping around like mad and having a grand time. Mama doesn't mind as much now when you handle them.

My friend Kitty and her daughter EM are coming to visit tomorrow! :weee I'm sure the baby animals will be a big hit. They are avid hikers, so I'm sure my trails will be a big hit too. We have a very nice but short loop trail that goes through our woods. It is still a little early in the year but it is really pretty cool.

So the ramp out back is sorta now like a boat ramp??? Great idea!

I hope you and Kitty have fun tomorrow! It's always nice when company comes....usually no matter how much YOU think it's a mess they are always marvalled at how much you actually do.

My eggs were not totally clean this batch. I need to put more straw in the nest boxes. I can't smell anything, and i have two days to go. woot!!

Better go get teh brooder cleaned out, I had a rabbit living in it during the bad part of the winter, when she coldn't be outside. I guess that is on my to do list today.
