You know how dogs love to plop down on top of a grass hummock? That is what she was doing there.......

We were beside a beautiful lake near Mt. Adams.

We are having a white Christmas! Amazing! Since I'm from California I can still never quite believe it. The eclipse is also happening right now, but we have clouds and it just looks dark.

I've officially stopped work and filed for SSI, just can't do it anymore. We are going to be in for some hard times but eventually we should be better off. I begin the paperwork snarl............the eclipse is supposed to mean new beginnings.....

I've been off a few days already and just knowing I'm not going back lifts the stress and makes me feel better. While we will have a more difficult financial situation, I will have less need to spend money and little reason, really, to even leave the farm. Or drive, when I really should not be.

The place could really use my loving hand more so this is good. It isn't like I won't have things to do. And now that I have all of you, I won't be lonely like I would have been. I have so many like-minded friends who I can actually communicate with despite not being able to hear anymore. You guys are much better than having someone here that I have to ask to repeat themselves ten times.

I also will have time to finish raising my sons, who still need their mom despite being teenagers. And I've joined the Bible study group as I've never really had time to study the Bible and decided now is a good a time as any. I'm rambling now so I'll stop......but I sure appreciate y'all.

Sounds like some positive changes. I also like my "online friends" even if you move across the country -as I have done a few times- you never have to say goodbye to these friends!

sorry- this posted before I was done. I hope you enjoy the snow. I am a socal baby now and can't imagine having to deal with snow again.

SD, you may actually find that your expenses are less, and that you have more money now that you're a SAHM. And, less stress w/your MD is a big bonus!

And, I hear you about the friends. When I was home all day when the kids were little, it drove me nuts at times. No one else in the neighborhood was, and I was lonely quite often. I often longed to be able to talk to someone who was higher than my belly button, and wasn't into Power Rangers!

We are hoping our expenses go down.....my commute was an hour each way so the gas bill should go down and also the food bill.

I have to find a new market for my eggs however as I was selling several dozen a week there.

you'll soon find there are a lot of folks who dont work a traditional job and yep - you'll save a ton of money. its hard to see it when you first take those steps.. but you'll find your groove

This is only our second white Christmas! Our first was the year we moved here and got snowed in, away from our extended family, so we are hoping for something a little better.

Did anyone see the eclipse last night?

I slept in the bed with my 5 yr old last night (he's cutting his 6yr molars and is CRABBY)...his vent closed up and sounded like a tea kettle. When I got up to open it back up I remembered the eclipse and got to see some of it before I wandered back into bed....it was neat.

I just posted a long entry on your other thread....if you want to start a seed swap or something I can do that. I want to start saving seeds from my garden this coming year.

We are supposed to have a white xmas too....supposed to start snowing Friday afternoon/night and all day Saturday. I'm also supposed to be driving 2 1/2 hours friday and coming back Saturday. Yeah, maybe not....
