I'll check into that....but I have my doubts if fly poison can affect the gazillion flies that result from this in the spring and again in the fall.

In one half hour, my son and I killed over 300 flies on my porch alone! Let alone in the house.....this is just a typical day after the hatch. Takes about 2-3 weeks for this to thin down and the house is a miserable place to be when this happens. :(
let me tell you..........my dad hauls chicken manure for his fields by the tractor trailer load, Im talking tons and tons of it. Drops several loads right behind the house. The poison works.

Peach blossoms, plum blossoms, mustard is in bloom, daffodils are nearly done, freesias and tulips are about to bloom as well as the lilac. Hens are laying. We're waiting for the first hen to go broody, so we can get fertile eggs to put under her.
Goldfish are spawning and the sparrows are building their nests under the eaves.

I couldn't for the life of me figure out why my daffodils weren't coming up.

I caught my dog "watering" them!

The furry little stinker.

Lovely buds on the trees. DD said she saw a tree in bloom yesterday.

All this beautiful warm weather has made for quite the melt. Our 4' snow banks are closer 1-2' now and that has made for our swimming hole to come back in the drive. Not complaining though cause I know it could be worse. It has been a long time since we had a really nice March Break - usually it is cold and snowing and it is usually the last major snowstorm of the season. Instead it's been warm, oh so warm! The dogs have been hanging out on the deck, kids are out riding their bikes, we even got to have dinner on the deck last night without parkas on! LOL And while eating dinner, dh was even able to start talking about spring building plans - my raised beds, adding onto the deck and fencing off a complete area for the dogs to have as their own. The Canada geese are back in the fields at the top of the hill.
The highlight of this morning was reading that they are calling for 17C ( think that works out to around 62F) for today! Normal highs for this time of year for me is 4C (39F). If it gets that warm, I should see my front lawn, which also means seeing my flowerbeds! :weee:weee

Edited for spelling

Bee - I am fond of the fly traps you make out of gallon jugs. I purchased the special little lids at Tractor Supply. They come with bait, but I like to add a small bit of meat to the jug as well as the "bait" and the water. I have several traps out around the yard all season long - near but not in the chicken pen etc. I have no idea the effect on a horde, but they keep my yard and house nearly fly free all summer!

MORE SPRING SIGNS!

A mega night crawler migration after the last hard rain.

Waking up to a robin chorus - hundreds strong!

Yesterday I started hearing the tree frogs!

Signs of Spring? The cloud of pollen enveloping us. :/ DH and I can barely breathe for the allergies.
But then there's the pink lining in the cloud- from the porch:
