real nice buck--good eatin' there!

yea the gym....I left and haven't been back :p

with the skiing you are doing, and cutting down on extra useless calories you will lose that 20 real fast. good for you! :)

I was a downhill skier to the max also. When I lived up North we would hit Vermont and Canada. Yes, go west. I went to Calif. and Nevada for skiing...OMG unreal the black diamonds are SO scary compared to the East's black diamonds  Mogels higher than my head and straight down--and OMG I loved it! yea I miss that skiing big time but I sure adapted to the South now :bun

with all that skiing you are in better shape than ya think so with a tad of extra careful you should be fit fast! Go for it and great luck to ya...but passing up those beers :th :hit I feel for ya man!

Congrats!!! how long does your season last? ( Ours ended December 31. ) what did you take him with?
This weekend(up until Tuesday) is muzzle-loader and THAT is what I used on him!
Our archery season ends Feb 8. Did I mention I just bought a new crossbow?? Google "Horton Vision"......

ANYWAY............
It was about an 80 yard shot.
Easy Peasy.......caught him in the left shoulder on a quartering to shot............ he ran about 100 ft back into the woods and crashed into a brier patch about the size of my house!! What a PITA he was to drag back out!!

Lol, my hubby was glad my dd had her horse to haul out his last deer. It was up a ravine. 160lbs might not seem like alot for 20 ft, but any more than that and it is a great work out. You have permission to skip the gym for a few days. :p

160lbs is a LOT to try to move when it is dead weight!! Getting it up into the bed of the truck is real chore when your all by yourself! :th

My friend and hunting mentor, Randy, has yet to get his deer this season, but then, he is being very picky. There is a HUGE 18 pointer that has been coming in to his feeders and he wants him soooo bad he can taste him already! Since the season is winding down he admitted to me yesterday that he might have to take a does this year, just to fill his insatiable desire for some venison pepper sticks!

I have taken a few does over the years, but this was my first set of horns. I have been watching him and three other bucks for the past few months, and I was hoping I'd get a chance at one of them yet this season. I normally never hunt horns as we are interested more in the meat than the bones. As you can tell by my picture, I don't miss many meals. :gig

Congrats!!! That buck ought to fill out the freezer nicely.

Hey that blow you got looks a lot like a rifle.

Great job!!!

ps Karen, the year we went to Steamboat they had a 26 foot base. The moguls were the size of VW bugs. It was crazy!!

The tenderloins and the backstraps don't last very long around here, and I am thinking quite a few jars of venison stew!!
