yea they don't scare me..HA HA

kinda like that good kid memory that fades now. I guess nothing is the same!

We have those brown recluse spiders here. OH THEY are bad, bad. My co-worker Charlie was bitten by one and it took him 3 months to get over it.....it threw this big guy for a loop. I never thought one little itty bitty spider could drop a big guy like this did. Anything brown, I watch out for now.

I always hate sticking my hands into an "unknown" space at the barn!
--the fear ya know..lol

I totally agree.

I am wary of brown spiders.

I try to wear gloves.

If I haven't worn the gloves in a while. I either stomp on them or look into them for spiders.

I always wear gloves when I visit the woodpile.

I finally found and killed the brown widow in my plant. I tried to take a pic of it in the jar, but I could only get an unreconizable blur. It was pretty small only about the size of a dime with it's legs stretched. The bad thing is that the plant was on my front porch all summer. Our shed is full of brown recluses. I hated cleaning it out. My dh mostly did it and the kids were not allowed to go inside it. Full of old spider skeletons too. :sick :hide

The last time I saw lightning bugs was in Racine, WI about 5 years ago. There were tons of them. I wonder if Me&thegals knows?

I meant that banana spiders were the size of your palm with their legs spread out. But that is still huge!

Dragonlaurel, you should have named that spider the Terminator!

That is still huge, BBH. :p That is about the size of some I have right now. I thought maybe they got even bigger in TX. Isn't everything bigger in TX?

I made myself think of him as the Guardian. He kept the roaches nervous and hidden or outside. It's late to name him though, this was many years ago. Big hairless spiders will be named Boney after this. Small furry ones better be outside. They creep me out more for some reason.

We have these "writing" spiders we call them here. WOW they give you a fright when you first run across or into one in the bushes...but they are cool though. I let them live. But big ya know! The yellow on them is wild-----I am not 100% sure if I got the right pic of this spider, but this one looks like it..HA HA

I am NOT a spider fan, but if there were a cool spider, writing spiders would be it. Ever heard the old wives tale that if they write your name, you will die soon? That's creepy, but the spiders are still cool (if there is a cool spider) :D

OK---a house pet spider! NO WAY JOSE! Ain't happening here..LOL

Banana spiders are small spiders compared to other spiders in TX. It is always fun when the brown tarantualas (sp?) migrate across the road. You never know what will grab your leg when you open your car door to get out!!! :ep Their bite is not too bad, like a wasp.

I love my house spiders. We have rules though. They have to stay at least half way up the wall and are not allowed over my bed. Any spider on the floor is squashed and any spider over my bed is dead meat. The only room they can move about freely with no rules is my computer room. They are allowed where ever they want. I love to watch them. I have garden spiders (like noobies pic) all over my front porch. I can sit and watch them for hours.
Chicken house spiders and barn spiders are never killed. I only destroy old webs that I am sure no spider is using.

FC come see me one summer. We have lightening bugs galore.

The biggest display of fireflies I've seen, EVER, was in dragonlaurel's neck of the woods. DS & I walked up the street (fountain st) from the Arlington hotel, near one of the mountain trails. DS said Woooow. When I turned to look, there were literally thousands of them in this one small segment between the mountain trail & the street. It looked like the most extravagant Christmas lights display on earth. Everyone who walked past saw us staring into the woods & stopped for a second. People were transfixed by the display. It was truly one of the most amazing sights I've ever experienced.

We still have fireflies around my place, not as many as when I was a kid, but enough to sigh over. The one in Hot Springs beat all I've ever seen though.
