 Tradition usually matters more than money but still :p
Last year was the first time the three of them - DH, his Dad, and DS#2 - went up to camp together since, well - that tradition had fallen by the wayside after DS#1 passed. I think I just didn't realize how much it meant to DH until I brought up the cow thing. :p Truth is, I enjoy it too - days on end of ME time :D

Pig girl walked to me last night when I did last check! :weee She still is having trouble putting all her weight on her right rear leg, but she is improving so much! :clap
DH is going tomorrow to pick up her replacement - have to go 3 1/2 hours to find a Yorkshire :/ The dog guy is paying for the pig, the vet, and the cost of gas to get there/back.
Pig girl loves being in the barn, and Ice Cream seems to not be bothered by her one bit. Ferdinand, on the other hand, is freaked out by her! She stands up, and he runs out of the barn  Crazy boy!

So, I was hoping we would start tearing into the kitchen, since the holiday is over. No such luck. We took down the drop ceiling, and found some big issues that will require some extra supplies, so DH decided to start on the living room. We are down to the studs in the living room now! Took down the drop ceiling too, so it was looking a little cavernous in there! Then, DH & I decided to take care of the front window - it was in horrible shape. Tore it out, cranked up the wood stove, and tried to get the new windows in before we froze :p Went from a gaping 5 x 10 hole in the wall, to 3 new energy efficient windows in just a few short hours of DH's amazing handy work! Sitting here, amidst dust and debris, admiring my new windows! No more big picture window...but I'm not whining, I love 'em :) Of-course, I didn't take any before pictures of the living room, because I thought we were doing it later  Sorry bout that! Once it's done I'll try to post a couple pix anyway, of the 'after'. I know it'll probably be pointless, but just think nasty/run down/dirty, stained carpet/smoke stained drop ceiling. The 'before' was pretty scary :p

I made homemade crescent rolls for Thanksgiving this year. Man, were they good! Used a recipe from Jackie Clay's cookbook. Also skipped pumpkin pie this year - made strawberry pretzel salad instead. It was decided, unanimously, to replace the pretzels with graham crackers, and it'd be perfect. Was a bit disappointed that my guys wouldn't name ANYTHING they were thankful for this year :/ So many things to be grateful for, in my opinion, and they wouldn't name a one :rant

I am having trouble working on Christmas gifts :( DH piled a bunch of stuff from the living room in front of my work table, and my sewing machine has started acting up. I have only finished one sewing project out of 9 to do :( Half done with another 'art' project, finished a neat one for MIL (I made a pin cushion, on top of a mason jar! Stick the pins in the cushion, and use the jar to store stuff! Made two - one for her, one for ME  ). Haven't even started my SIL's present (an address sign made from tile). I need to get crackin'!!

On a :celebrate note, we got a determination on the $27,000.00 hospital bill, finally. The insurance paid 100% :woot Such a relief! A huge weight off my shoulders!

Glad thing are looking up for you! And, glad the insurance paid that bill. Insurance companies can be a real PITB. When I had my appendix out, they didn't want to pay for it cuz it was "elective" surgery. You know, I just woke up one day, figured I didn't have anything better to do, so I'd go get my appendix out. Forget that I had been in constant pain for over 24 hours, none of the test were conclusive and when they took it out, it was inflamed.

Thanks for all the comments! DH saw her marked improvement this morning (she is now putting her weight on all four legs, and tried to get OUT of her temporary pen to come see me when we went in the barn :p )and decided to hold off a bit on the new pig. I'm glad, I think little pig would be 'understanding' of big pig, but no telling how a stranger pig would treat her once she's well enough to go back in the outside pen .

Makes you wonder sometimes, doesn't it? Wish I knew somebody who worked in insurance claims, so they could explain their thinking to me :/

I am ashamed to say, Ihad a pie pumpkin sitting on the counter, just waiting to be turned in to pie, but I was being lazy :hide I WILL do something with it though, even if it's just to can it up for later! Man, I'm such a slacker

SS, since we are both nuts over what Jackie Clay writes/does. I have seeds for the Hopi Pale grey squash, have you grown any? :pop
