OK, on the topic of judgment, there are 2 different judgments in the Bible.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15 For other foundation can no man lay that that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble-Every man's work shall be made manifest; for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall test every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built upon it, he shall receive a reward if any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet as by fire.

There are other verses, but these are the main ones.

As for the unsaved, they will also be judged by their works, but they will meet a different end.

Revelation 20:11-15 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away, and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God, and the books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and hell delivered up the dead that were in them, and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. this is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Not to be a stick in the mud... Yes, our salvation is assured by trusting in the atonement of Yeshua on the cross.

But.... Christians will be judged on their works, just as all mankind. Our "reward" in the Age To Come (Depth of penetrations into the Presence of the Holy One) is based on how well we represented the Holy One here on the earth.

In Revelation 20 "the books that are opened" are the Torah, the first five books of the Bible, our lives will be compared to the "Standard" or "Guidelines for Life" that were given to us by the Holy One Himself from Mt. Sinai.

The other book, is the one in which all the names of the believers are written. If your name is not found in THAT book, you are cast from the presence of the Holy One for eternity.

But, I do think, there will be a difference between the "distance" of penetration, into and out of the presence of the Holy One. Someone like Hitler, Stalin, and others of an unrepentant evil nature will, I think be in a position further from the Holy One than one who is a "good" person, but has willfully not accepted the provision of salvation given by the Holy One to all mankind.

Here is a link to a teaching on Eternal Judgement that has many scripture verses, a study of these concepts found in the NT. Based on the original Greek and Hebrew languages .

In case any of you wonder why I think the way I do on this topic

Romans sounds like a good place to do some "digging".

Christians are saved still though right?
Of course, once one accepts the atonement on their behalf, made by the Messiah, they are "saved" from the judgement of Eternal Separaton from the Holy One.

When the Messiah died on the Cross, in Him YOU died, it is now to be the Messiah living through you.

We should be living in such a way that will cause others to want what we have.

We have the KEYS to Eternal Life! How wonderful is that?!!

I have a question.....what does obedience to God look like? I mean specifically what does an obedient person do?

We had a speaker at church who reminded us that surrender and obedience go hand in hand, you can not have full surrender to the Lord if you are not also obedient.

So I am thinking I am pretty obedient, but the more I thought about it the more I realize I do not really know what that means.

I know there is more to it than following the commandments....so can someone shed some light here?

By the way....I do not mean to hijack! Just let me know if I should move this to my journal!

A good place to start is wth the 10 Commandments. Then, read your Bible every day. The Holy One is able to speak to your heart to show you "the path" He designed for you.

The Messiah is our "model" we are to be living our lives the way He would if He were still here. So... read the Gospels, how did He live? How does He want us to treat others? It is all in there... It is just a matter of taking the time to read and listen/do what it says.

It is not too hard for you... Anyone who says that to observe the commandments of the Holy One is too hard is calling the Holy One a liar since He told us very plainly...

Deuteronomy 30:10-15
10 if you obey the voice of the L_RD your G_d, to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to the L_RD your G_d with all your heart and with all your soul. 11 For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off. 12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it? 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it? 14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. 15 See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16 in that I command you today to love the L_RD your G_d, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the L_RD your G_d will bless you in the land which you go to possess. 17 But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.

But one of the most important passages in the NT is this one...

1 Corinthians 13
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

DOING Love... that is what obedience looks like. And if you are loving G_d and your neighbor,as yourself...

You will NOT be breaking any of the commandments of the Holy One.
