Is it really cold there still Free? It has warmed up a bit here. Yesterday was 11 and today it was sunny and 35. The sun in winter sure seems bright when you haven't seen it for a while.

Free, I'm sorry if you feel that way, it's not my intent. And, I could say the same thing about how you respond to me. I don't have a lot of time to post, I need to get ready to go to work in the morning, and at night I'm trying to get a ton of stuff done, but still grab a little bit of time to respond on here.

You say that the story about the rich man and Lazarus (not Abraham, Lazarus was in Abraham's bosom, which is what the Jews call Paradise) is just hyperbole and saying that the clues are in Jesus' teachings, but don't back that up. OK, so where?

I am sorry to see what I am reading that we are no longer going to finish Ecc. I still will finish it but I am looking forward to new topics. I know it is hard to read a book that is hard to understand or you just don't care for it as you are reading it I also have found that the book that I thought I didn't care for ended up in the end to be a very fine read in the end. I am just throwing this out there to see other response. Also I was thinking that we could post a prayer for our little group maybe take turns giving prayer. what do you think?

There are bound to be differences in how we all view the Bible.

I hope we can keep our discourse from turning into a dispute about interpretation of semantics. Despite minor differences, I think we have core beliefs that are universal to Christians. If we want to discuss these finer points, I think we should phase things like

"This is what I believe"

"This is what I learned"

"This is how I interpret this"

"This is how my church/pastor/priest/whomever presents this."

Or

"I believe God/Jesus/Solomon/whomever meant ______."

The semantics portion of the discussion I find very interesting, but lets not let it dissolve into a dissagreement. I'm sure differing interpretation is why Christians split off into different churches.

Can't we all be part of the SS "Church" here? Some of you are very sure of your beliefs and that is very very good, but when we discuss things with each other, I think we should temper our comments with statements reminding others that they may disagree and that is okay. Or their beliefs might be slightly different and that is okay too...............each is a path to God, isn't it?

Correct me if I'm wrong here....this is just my "opinion"......if we are doing a multi-denominational study here, we need to not argue about finer points that are viewed differently by different groups.

I am more of a Universalist Christian, so my views are not always similar to MANY of yours. However, I still find your views and your faith interesting and if you believe different things from me, I'm not threatened. I see a couple posts here going a little sour and I love you both. I hope our tone can lighten up a little.

I like this idea Bambi.

May I offer the first prayer?

Dear Lord
May our online Bible Study Group bring us closer to you and closer to each other. May we listen to your Word and know your true meaning when we see it. We do this in Jesus's name.
Amen
