Uhhh my name is gina and I have an addiction.

To canning jars.....:weee :barnie :weee

I'm not sure if this is a problem or not. I just bought 26 dozen jars on CL. :th Which included 8 dozen 1/2 gallon jars 8 doz quarts and 8 doz pints. :hide

Not sure if the total is correct but the young couple I bought them from had used them for their wedding. Glasses to drink out of, center pieces etc..

They are all washed wrapped and boxed. I had to take a seat out of my mini van for them all to fit.

I do think that I will be able to sell some. I paid a bit more than would normally for jars but I know the 2q jars will be great for pantry storage and dry goods.

I just need to find somewhere to store them. :barnie

She also had some of those milk looking bottles with bale stoppers. All I could think was hard cider, hard cider, hard cider...... So I got those as well. :D

The first thing I said to dh when I got home is "I am never buying jars again". I think that might prove I have a problem.

:weee :clap :woot :weee

Holy cow! If you weren't on the West coast, I'd offer to take some off your hands!

Don't let go of those bale-top bottles! Don't sell any just yet of the others, either. Once you start filling them, you won't be able to stop.

An addiction to common sense, I call it. Not so common, really. A return to the domestic arts, something to be proud of. You go, girl!

Thanks you guys.

Free I would definitely share with you if you were closer.

I just finished unloading and stacking the boxes in the garage. I guess I did not realize how much space 8 dozen 1/2 gallon jars would take. :/ There is one large box that has 4 dozen pints in it. All used once for the wedding. :weee

I know I will fill them if I can. The thing is I have a few hundred jars still empty. :hide

Some day I will use them all. For now I might advertise some of the half gallons as sprouting jars on CL. See if I can get a bit of money back.

I am going to jump over to Pam's journal and see how her tomato sauce is holding up in the 1/2 gallon jars. I read that only highly acidic foods are recommended for these jars. No biggy there. Maybe I will do big crunchy fermented dills next spring. :D

Now I definitely want to do cider. Maybe even a secondary fermentation in the stopper bottles.

Oh the projects come as fast as the ideas!!!!! :th

You "just" got 24 dozen so you're safe. If you want to make extra sure, send the gallon size ones here. ;)
Besides, you can't get addicted to caning jars, anyway. :tongue Can you . . . ? :/ Well- I can quit any time I want. You'll see . . . Right after I get these jars here.

You have to wonder about that wedding, don't you? I do. So, we'll use all these jars to show how rustic we are - we'll buy them new, but then .... then .... what then? Well, I don't know - when, and for what, would we ever use them? Better just get rid of them (at a loss), because we certainly don't have room to store them. Was her wedding dress made from flour sacking? All these questions
