Could you buy an enclosed car hauler, put your stuff in it, tow it to the new home and then sell it afterwards? That's what my papa and granny did and he was able to find a HUGE one for like less than 3k.
I was just wondering the same thing, that or a used POD or used cargo container. Sometimes you can even find old tractor trailer trailers for sale. RU has one. I'm not sure how much she paid for it. I saw one on CL not too long ago for about $2000.00 If I had had the money, and a place to put it, I would have bought it for storing hay.

Just a dumb question Tanks. Are you trimming one wing or both?

You should only clip the flight feathers off of one wing. That causes them to fly in circles and get no lift. If both wings are trimmed a strong bird can still get air born.

FF, I only trimmed one wing, the right. I think the first time I was extremely nervous and didn't cut short enough. The poor girls looked like they had a really bad haircut. So I cleaned it up, shortened the ones I missed. No one has escaped again since. Funny thing though. When I went to cut the turkeys wing I had knelt down to tuck her legs in between my knees. My Ugg mule shoe fell off but I kept on. So after I was finished with the bird I stood up to slip my shoe back on...:sick The darn turkey pooped while I was holding her and sure enough it went right in my shoe. I guess she won that battle.

Life in limbo is still about the same. I told my dh last night that he needed to make up his mind. I can't stand him coming home and telling me were going but then the next day telling me not to pack anything up. :barnie I did the same thing last year. So now I have no family pictures on the walls. It really stresses me out. I don't want to plan anything, next years garden, house stuff.

I am back to needing to live for today and not worrying about tomorrow. But that s hard for me.

Oh, about the tractor trailers. Anything big enough to haul all our crud would have air brakes. My dh is not licenced nor does our Freightliner have air brakes. So we would have to hire someone to move it anyways.

Took DS to the doc yesterday. This man has called my kids overweight for years. Nothing new. Yesterday he showed me the growth chart. It's this nice steady curve. Since he was two. He looks just like my dh and all my brothers did at this age. do they not take genetics into account for anything? He was surprised to hear we had no tv. (I didn't tell him I just turned it back on) He has agreed to manage ds meds. And is astonished that the other doc gave him adhd meds based on family history without a full "work up". But because of his progress and all that we have accomplished he just switched to a shorter lasting pill and asked us to schedule another apt.

We will sell how that goes.

I have only made it halfway through the Baker Creek catalog. I did notice something they said about corn seed. They said that it is very difficult to find non GMO contaminated seeds. But to the best of their knowledge and testing theirs were. I guess it's time to stock up on some corn. For future planting just in case. Other than that planning the garden is not going well. kinda blah.

Well today is the last day of school for the kids. For the next 2 weeks we will probably be bouncing off the walls. I need to plan some activities.

I need to start wrapping some Christmas gifts. Still nothing under the tree. It looks really sad. Not very Christmas-ey.

Well thats it for now. I need more coffee.

 Too funny and SO typical of my life!

I thought you probably did the wing trim right, but the other day my D1 trimmed wings and clipped both! I couldn't believe after all of the years helping me she forgot when it came time to do her own. :hu

About moving ... a friend of mine (that lived next door to me many years ago) moved back home to Australia with her family. She had a HUGE sale before the move. She sold all of their furniture, MOST of their clothes and other possessions. All she really kept was enough clothing to wear in the current season and her irreplaceable items, like family photos. I was appalled! She explained very calmly (having done it all before) that they were just things and that anything they really needed could be replaced at the other end of the move. Shipping a household across the world was far too expensive.

After that I have looked at my stuff in a whole new light. I have a few pieces, like this little circa 1920 teachers desk I am using now, that would be very expensive to replace, but really most stuff I own could easily find again. Our next move will be sparse - I guarantee it.

I have no idea, I have never grow any. I always have the worst luck with corn, so I gave up several years ago. I am just afraid that someday if I want to try again there will be no GMO free seed available. :idunno

Golden Bantam is an old open pollinated sweet corn. It is sweet, but nothing like the new hybrids.

Howling Mob is another and same deal.

Still BOTH can be grown from saved seeds, so the trade off is probably worth it!

FF I know stuff is just stuff. The problem is we have a lot of it. I have kinda always hung on to things. I think it stems from growing up poor and not know if you might need it someday. Now I have the fear that if we do move things will be so crazy I will never be able to buy anything again. :idunno I will admit though that most of my stuff is very practical and useful. Most pertains to my SS goals and easy living style. Over the past couple years I have thinned out the household appliances and most of the plastic from my kitchen. Maybe I don't have too much. ????

Both wings. :gig Sorry that's kinda funny. Last night I got home just after dark.. It was so hard to see the turkeys out in the field. The tom was nestled down into a bunch of leaves that just fell off my apricot tree. The hens were just standing around. So I went into corral mode and carried them to their hut. I am kinda getting tired of this process.

Thanks for the seed names and links. I will check them out.

Well The sun is coming up. That's my cue. Breakfast, kitchen, kids.

By the way, I have almost burned through the second batch of that granola. My kids are just loving it dr as a snack. DH even ate it. He pretended not to like it once I told him I made it with coconut oil and kefir. But he eats it all the time. Someone please tell me that ok.
