PamsPride had a post of FB that they made a big old brooder out of a shipping crate. So I checked my local CL. This was about a 5 min drive from my house. They come up all the time. This one was HEAVY. I just cut a hole in the lid and TRIED to screw the hardware cloth to the top. I could't find short enough staples. I would have rather used the pneumatic gun. Tried is the key word. DH work bench was a wreck. I couldn't fine anything I needed.

You should have heard him yesterday. He gave this speech about not using his power tools. Mumbling about locking them up. I laughed so hard. He was joking of course. I could have used a bit of help. But I really wanted to get it done. I need to add hinges to the lid and we are going to cut an access door in the front so the chicks can get in and out. I think.

Maybe our DH's are one in the same....I get that speech often too.

I just say 'If you're not going to help me I'm going to do it myself and there's nothing you can do about it'

Usually by that point he yanks the tool out of my hand and gets the job done.

There are those rare exceptions where he stands there, shaking his head at what I've created. I hit him with:

'Well - if you'd help me IN THE FIRST PLACE or have everything SORTED I wouldn't be in this mess'

Geez! Crazy busy :)

I'm glad the kid doesn't have mono. Yech. Strep is definitely the better of the two. Not that it's a great choice either.

He has his own power tools!? You need to tell him how lucky he is! My hubby has to ask to borrow mine. :gig

Great find on the crate! Also, don't worry about your train of thought jumping around - your thoughts usually follow your actions and at this time of the year we are ALL hopping about like mad bunnies! :D

Yeah Deb, all you need to clean your carpet is a wheel barrel full of horse poo and a rake. Just dump then spread evenly

That looks good! The birds probably won't need the crate at all in a couple weeks, they should be completely feathered out and then they will be fine, even in any weather as long as they can get out of the wind a bit.

That crate is awesome though!

Half the time, I don't think anyone would be able to tell if I did that.
