Yesterday I found my first fuzzy butt.. :weee it is so darn cute. Black just like daddy. My Roo is a Barred rock with some green. Not sure if thats normal he is a back yard hatch as well.

Just about 10 min ago I went down and there is one pipped. With about a half inch hole. I am so excited.

I have 10 eggs total. How long should I expect between the first hatch and giving up on the rest. Today is day 21. So the little black one came 1 day early. I also added a few more eggs on the second day so that would be tomorrow.

I told my dh I had another broody in the big coop. He said throw some eggs under her!!! It was so funny to hear.

We are working in the yard today and trying to move some water pipe and hose bibs. I am hoping the pavers will go in next week. The contractor stopped by yesterday and we discussed things a bit. Nothing fancy just getting the bricks down so the yard is not all dirt.

Then we are supposed to go to sil house for family diner and pool. Wow, can you talk about awkward. I hope it goes well. Wish me luck. G

What a cutie, TH! I usually give the chicks 4 or 5 extra days, but I haven't had many hatches, so was aware of dates eggs were laid.

When I am in an awkward situation, I usually end up talking and talking and talking and talking about chickens until the other person has eyes glazed over (deer in the headlights kind of look). :p

Well, hum where to start. Nothing all that great to share I am just venting.

I have been a bit distracted lately.

Well not much going on today. Some fall cleaning and clearing. Dh is clearing up a junk pile near our garage. The kids were on trash detail. Everything blows downhill. I need to get motivated. I am going to pack up my sewing. I thought it would be nice to have everything out sorted and in view. Now it's just collecting dust and looking cluttered. I want to pack up some stuff and declutter.

That will make me feel better!! Have a good day.

Good luck with the mortgage and the tax people.
Sorry about the coyotes. The dog might have been trying to keep itself safe since it was so outnumbered. Hope some more chickens turn up - safe and healthy. Hope a few hid fast. Maybe you could rig up a way to automatically close the run? Nifty did something like that.

Ugh! Gina I am sorry to hear about the coyotes! How many were there?

I hope that some of your missing birds show up.

How are you doing with your sewing? I am thinking about hauling out my machine and trying to learn how to use it.

Sorry to hear about the coyote attack on your flock, Gina. Were your broody hen and chicks there as well? Hopefully, a number of the birds were able to find safety. It is a hard way to start the day. :hugs

Not a very fun way to start your day. :hugs I hope more of your chickens make it back. Coyotes are relentless aren't they? I read that sometimes a dog can feel out numbered by coyotes too...even if the coyotes are smaller.

Is the truck paid for? Then it would be worth getting a car allowace.

Hope your day gets better. :)
