Super Self-Sufficient
Thanks guys. Out of the 15 hens and 1 roo, 10 hens and the roo came back. But two of the girls were injured and needed to be put down. There are a couple others who look a bit beet up. Not sure how they will do.
I feel bad, I kinda flaked and left the run open. We found two coyotes in the yard but with the damage caused I think there may have been more. I really need to let them free range to keep my feed cost down. So I feel like I am between a rock and a hard spot. Looks like the cost will be down now just by other means. It's a bummer.
It's been one of those weekends where I just feel like why bother. I am a bit down and the chickens are last on my list of priorities.
I was on line yesterday. I found that the farm in Missouri I love was on Craigslist. Last year they were asking 265,000. It's listed for 190, 000 now. I don't think it will last much longer at that price. Bummer. It is a big Amish built home on 100 acres, with a greenhouse, well, barn and pasture land. I know it is way more than I need but I love the house. Very simple, it has electricity and water but just to house not actually inside. Would need a bit of work but I love the idea of starting from scratch.
I sent the listing to my Auntie who lives there. She loved it. I showed it to my dh and he made an odd noise and walked away.
We only have about two months left before we will need to make some big decisions. Who knows. Good thing is I looked up my house on Zillow and the estimate has gone up. Second thing is the paving guy may be coming this week. That I will believe when I see it.
In the mean time everyday life goes on. Fall has set in around here. Well at least for this week. It's just over 50 out side this morning. Kids are off to school. DD had a major meltdown this morning about her shoes and socks. Sets an awful tone for the morning. I hope they weren't late...
We are trying to head to the desert for a weekend. We have some friends going in a couple weeks. Maybe some down time will be good for all of us. Who knows.
Have a great day. gina
