We just installed a french drain in front of our garage. It was a lot of work, but now the garage at least stays nice and dry.

Sounds like a nice weekend away! How do you handle kids and riding? My Dh & son would really like to buy some quads (at some point) but I would be so worried....what kind of rules do you have for the kids?

Your daughter is adorable, I love that shot!
Patio looks good too :thumbsup

Well with the kids riding, hummm... My dh has been riding since he was a kid so he rides a motorcycle. We started my 9yo on a little 50 when he was 5 they basically learn as they go. When they are that young just driving in a circle is exciting for them. Now he is on a 250. Which you are supposed to be 16 to ride. He is a big boy though and progressed on his quads according to experience and size.

My girls are the same way. My 6yo started a 3 1/2. She just got it. She was very coordinated and rode her brothers old 50. Now she has moved up and the 4yo is on the 50.

I have some fear of them getting hurt. My son has fallen off a couple time but nothing to bad. They wear all the protective gear possible. It's just the other guys you have to watch out for. We usually go to an area with not many people, and the kids know to ride where we can see them. When we take trail rides we have an adult in the front and then space out the kids and adults with me in my Rhino following the group.

Most people who go to the desert understand the rules and are cautious. They usually have families and kids as well.

It's a learning process and with age comes experience.

It is a lot of fun though. With my sons friends we have about 10 families we know who ride. Desert season is where we have most of our mini vacations. Very cost effective. It's free to park in the desert and once you own your toys it's just a matter of packing up and getting there.

This morning we were all moving a bit slow. 4 days of riding and play makes for tired kids. I think next time I will enforce a bedtime rule. Mean Mom that I am. :D

Wow, It's been a while since I posted on here so I thought I would catch up a bit.

We went out to the desert again for Halloween. A different group of friends this time. We all used to go together but there is kinda rift between a couple of the mom's so now it's two separate groups. Kinda makes it hard for us neutral folks. My son want to spend time with all of his friends. Anyways. Weather was great riding was a blast. I actually did not have my off road vehicle so I read and sat around. It was a very relaxing weekend for me.

House stuff is the same as normal. I am trying to take advantage of this beautiful Ca. weather and hang as much laundry on the line as possible.

I have combined both my coops into one. 19 hens and one Barred Rock Roo. Then I left the Moma and 3 babies she hatched in the other. I will move mom as soon as I can. The babies should be fine on their own they are quite big. I would have to check the calendar to know exactly.

I have another clutch being set. Only 6 eggs though. That wont give me very good odds. I will be happy to get any to hatch.

Well, my dh is still working for the same company. It has a different name now and things are really changing. It is very hard for him to stay but he has to. I told him to tough it out, we need the money and the medical.

We are still progressing on the residential solar. Our partner and licenced electrician took his Sharp certification class this week. The man is a genius and I am so happy he understands everything they taught and then some. So we now are pretty much ready to start this new business. The are a couple pieces of vital equipment we need to buy. But in order for the Ca. rebates to be valid they are a must. I have been working on our bid software and doing some research on forms and all that stuff. The solar is actually very easy. It is really just the red tape on the rebates that complicates the whole mess.

That kinda worries me still.

Kids are doing well in school. Ds is doing well in. I have been talking with the teachers and others about using strategies to help him focus. Me&thegals and others have been very helpful in that department. Talking about ADD and stuff like that. I think a lot of his is behavioral. He has me wrapped around his finger. He is my baby boy after all. :) I am keeping my dd 4 yo home now. Decided not to spend the 220.00 per month on pre school. She is being my great little helper. My dd 6yo loves school and cries for more work. Literally!!

Tomorrow I am taking 4 yo to Grandmas in the morning. I am going with a friend to the shooting range. I have never shot a gun before. Well I guess there is a first time for everything. Wish me luck on that.

I am working on getting some manure and mulch into my garden boxes for next spring. My fil tractor is dead in my yard though. So that is proving to be a challenge. My fruit trees will not drop their leaves until Feb so no need to think about pruning yet.

I am on line often. Reading and watching what everyone is doing. I really don't have much going on right now. I have a bunch of tomatoes in the freezer I should get them canned. Maybe do some beans this week.

Funny thing. I have a Road Runner that has been hanging out in the field with my chickens. He comes and goes all the time. Today he was on my back porch. I was folding laundry in my bedroom and watching tv. He tapped on the sliding glass door. Twice. Is that some kind of sign? A road runner tapping on your window while your watching a chick flick?

funny!!

Well off to make lunches for tomorow.

Grrrr!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever typed a whole page and accidentally hit the back button and lost it? I just did that and I am very frustrated about it. :he

Let's try again. November 19, 2009

Not much going on. Kids are doing well in school and bringing home all kinds of Thanksgiving crafts. My 6yo daughter is coming home singing the traditional songs I learned in public school. Brings back good memories. Ds is working on a native American Indian project. We will need to finish it over the Holiday.

We are sneaking of to the desert again tomorrow. The kids have the next week off so we are going to take advantage of it. The weather here is nice and cool. Perfect for jackets and snuggling around the camp fire. I am taking my dutch oven with. I have a few new recipies to try. Cooking outdoors is something I really enjoy.

I have finished my Knifty Knitter hats for Christmas. I was going to do scarves but decided against it because I bought some small gifts as well. I even crocheted a baby blanket and hat for our newest nephew. Whewww!!! Glad all those are done. I bought the craft book that shows a bunch of projects and other stitches to use with the looms. I can't wait to give it a try. I would like to learn to make socks. :D

Wow! Very pretty! Makes me want a knifty knitter!

When I loose a page like that I try and hit ctl+z to undo and that usually brings my stuff back. The baby likes to hit buttons highlighting the entire text and then erasing it!!

Thank you so much!!! I will try that next time Pam. Very frustrating!!!

It is a round plastic loom they sell at WM and other places. Actually they have several different shapes and sizes. Wifezilla posted some hats last year and they were wonderful so I bought my self one. Normally I crochet but this thing is soooooooo easy. At least this basic stitch is. The first time I tried I had 4 pl worsted wool and wound it way to tight. Most of these hats are made with bulky yarn. Except the light blue one and the baby hat. They are two strands at one time.

Very fun and quick. I can usually do a hat in one day!! Shhhhh don't tell I want them to think I slaved over these.

So I will put my order in for a hat and a double thick vest, make the vest in a hunter green, dark blue, and maybe add a tan colored line through the middle.

Could you knit a peace sign on the hat part? I want the birds in the sky to know I am of a peaceful nature and don't drop any birdie bombs on me. :D
