Hey all, just thought I would take a couple minutes to say hello. It's amazing I left for a week and there are new people all over the place. The threads are rolling by and I just know I will never catch up on it all.

I really don't think I can summarize our little trip to the mid west in just a few words.

We enjoyed the Grand Canyon and were surprised to find snow on the ground when we got there. We stayed at the KOA in Williams, there was snow and our water line to the RV froze at night. They told my DH to unhook it but of course he didn't.

We then hit the road Thurs early am, about 3 I think. We were planning to make it to Aunties outside Springfield by about noon. But I just have to say, something about me and Oklahoma don't mix. We stopped about 6am for coffee. Turned off out Freightliner at the gas station. When DH started it he could not build any air pressure. For those of you who don't know this is the only way to release the brake. So we had a bit of a layover. DH found the problem and with a ride to a parts shop and 35 bucks later he had us going again.

Missouri was fabulous. I did not expect the rolling hills. For some reason I thought it was flat. Not so at all. All of the trees were still bare and just budding. Which made it much easier to see the landscape. Aunties house was lots of fun for the kids. They milked the cow and bottle fed the baby goats. We only caught a few ticks. I guess it's to be expected when your in the woods. My dog was actually pretty well behaved. And I think my dh actually relaxed and enjoyed the visit.

We spent a day in Branson at silver dollar city. Kids liked that. It rained late in the afternoon but that worked out ok. We had saved the water ride for last, knowing we had a change of clothes in the car. So they went on the ride 8 times in the rain. Not sure where most of the water came from. The ride or sky but they sure got soaked.

While we were visiting an Amish neighbor hosted a wedding. there must have been 100 buggies and the horses to go with there that day. It was so neat to see all of the kids in their little outfits running around and playing. My dh cousin is very friendly with the Amish. he runs construction crews of Amish to Branson for work. They also have an Amish neighbor who takes care of Aunties cows and does the milking. She then buys it back for a buck a gallon. She does not have a barn yet so this works great for her.

We also spent a day looking at houses, properties, etc... There were just a couple in the area that we saw. Then there was one in Mansfield. I think I have mentioned this place before. It is 100 acres and an Amish built home. It used to be a dairy that burned down. But still is lived in and full of animals, gardens and families. Well on CL the advertise as the ultimate place to be SS. Well after traveling the 6 miles off the main hwy we found out why. We were in my Uncles Buick and we ran out of road. Ended up on a wash with erosion about 4 feet up on each side. Then we came out on road again. Anyways, at the end of the road we came upon the most beautiful pasture. It was gorgeous. They had goats and cows everywhere. The house was on the hillside about 3 or 4 hundred yards back. There were a couple of those big white dogs lurking around. The livestock protector kind. Overall it was really nice but I Think the reason you would need to be Ss was because you can't get out in winter.

I think though over all we are convinced. We need to move. DH agrees. I think we have a tentative plan. He will start the new job on Mon. We will do everything in our power to pay off excess debt. Save as much as we can while fixing up our house here for at least the next year. The hard part will be selling our place here. We have even talked about selling the toy hauler and Freightliner. This will relieve us of a huge amount of debt.

Who knows. last thing my dh said was" How am I going to go to work on Mon. and not think of Mo. all day?" I think he liked it. :D

Well I am trying to still clean out my trailer and catch up on the laundry. This might take a while. I need to get out in the garden and get some work done. We had a bit of rain while I was gone so my veggies actually survived. :clap

Have a great day. Gina

Hi, Gina! Welcome back! Sounds like it was a great trip!

My brother is currently stationed in Germany, but they are moving him and his family back to the States in August - His new assignment is as a drill Sergeant in Missouri!!! We're planning a trip to Missouri sometime after they're settled to visit.

Where are you heading Quail and should I be expecting company?
LOL I'm not 100% sure! I think it's close to Branson, and yes, you better be expecting company if we make that trip! :D

The reason I think it's close to Branson is because my SIL was excited that she could go shopping there

We are quite a ways north of Branson!

We do have a family lake cabin near Camdenton which is closer.

Thanks you guys. Good to see you too. I called Ca. a couple hours after the earthquake happened. My family and friends here said it was a pretty gentle roller. I think because it was so deep. I saw Dace's thread but have not had time to read it yet.

Branson was Beautiful. Lots to see and do. We only went to the amusement park but the views on the way were lovely. There are sure a ton of really expensive homes tucked into those hills.

I wish I could have visited you FF. But the furthest east we went was Mansfield. Maybe next year you can visit me on my new farm. Wishful thinking right?? One can dream.
