Thanks to all.

TT I will have to find a picture to post of our view. It was one of the main reasons we bought our hill. It is an amazing almost 360 degrees.

Lori I made a salad the other night and the dressing was oj concentrate, balsamic and olive oil. It was wonderful. I think I will roast the ones I picked today. We will see how they turn out.

Quail, yes I will post pics. It might be a while because I plant everything from seed. But I will put some up.

I definitely have spring fever. My garden is to the point where I can't plant any more until things start coming up. I kinda forgot what I put in some areas. :hide

I think I might do some little hills out in my orchard. Put in some pumpkin and watermelons seeds. Times like this I wish I had flat land. :he

One good thing though. When we were painting the fence and building the boxes my dh says. "You need to plant lots of stuff we can can". It was an ah ha moment. :clap

Oh it's not that bad here. Where I live I guess it would be considered a coastal thing. North County San Diego is kinda rural, at least a lot more than people would think. The average property size runs from a 1/2 acre up. So there are lots of trees left. Really hilly though. Lots of little winding roads.

We just got lucky and bought an ol place that someone had owned since the early 20's on 3 acres. The hill is always a challenge though. Building, planting, kids playing ball. That's why we have the white picket fence. I originally put it up so when my son was playing in the yard his ball wold not roll down the hill and end up a mile away.

Once when my 4yo daughter was about two she was sitting on the back of a tricycle facing backwards. My older girl got off the seat and she was just sitting there. Then s I turned I watched in horror ans the bike started rolling down the driveway. She went about 300 feet with me screaming and chasing her the whole way. About halfway down there is a dlp that turns into the neighbors driveway. She kinda ker plopped off there and the trike kept going. If she would have gone over the next rise it would have been the street next.

I want flat land really bad.

But yes I will post some more pics. :p

I have seen that keyhole garden idea before. It would be a great idea for a small city plot. Here is the link that I saw. Keyhole Gardens

Tanks your tricycle story reminds me of the day my son learned to ride a bike. The home I grew up in (now belongs to my D1) is at the top of a steep hill with a highway at the bottom of it.

When my son was little he needed a new bike, but we had no funds. I found out that my old bike was still being stored in the hay loft of my dad's barn, so we went over and dug it out to take home and repair for my son. The chain was rusty and both tires were flat, but to him it looked like a new bike. We went in to clean up and the kids were playing in the back yard. A bit later my D2 (who always had a Wednesday Adams / Pugsley relationship with my son) came to the door all excited.

"Come see! He can ride the bike!" It seems the little rat had drug the bike to the front yard at the top of the steep hill, put her little brother on the flat tired bike and shoved him towards the highway!!! :th It could have been a funeral, but amazingly he just started riding the bike and never looked back. (only one of my kids that never needed training wheels!) ;) :gig

Oh I feel your pain!!! After I ran after her I threw up and had to go to bed. My chest hurt and it was not just from running really fast. :he

Good to hear your son was ok.

g

Free that was a great link. i get it now. Is the basket in the middle of the key hole used like a compost bin? I think I missed that part. It would be neat to build.

:ep When my oldest DS was about 3 (I was preggers with the middle DS) and we had burned leaves in the yard instead of the fenced off area we had for burning :barnie The piles looked like they were out, but he walked through one - both feet 2 perfect footprints - and burnt both feet top and bottom he had 1st and 2nd degree burns. I stayed fairly calm until we were back from emergency and he was knocked out on pain meds - I called my Mom and told her what was going on and I said 'now I can cry' Kids put us thru the ringer that's for sure

Ok so this is what I am dealing with. We went to Mo and my dog got a few ticks on his under belly. We were very diligent about removing them and he is using Frontline. When we got home I actually gave him a bath with my very expensive Te Tree Oil shampoo for people and we though we were good.

The ticks there were what my Auntie called Seed Ticks.

So fast forward to 2 weeks after we got home, my in-laws wanted us to go camping with them. We went to an area of huge oaks, trees and brush in the local mountains. While there I found what looked like a Dog tick on the dogs head. Not at all the same look as the ones in Mo.

Since camping we have found several on the dog and kids. I do live in an are where my dog roams free. We have fields of grass and orchards all around us. But I have only had 1 tick show up in the 10 years prior to this.

The dog has an appointment at the vet tomorrow. He needs shots and I am going to have him weighed to be sure he is on the right dose of front line. I will also get some shampoo for him.

But for the house???? The ticks like the lower hairline on my girls. So while checking my dd just in case this morning I was shocked to see one on her cheek right by her ear. I hate bugs. :barnie The dog has been banished as of this morning to his kennel outside. Can I treat my carpet with DE? Will that help? I read horrid things about he ticks living indoors and multiplying.

help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sprinkle all your crapets, dogbeds, matresses, furniture with BORAX. Let it sit for a day and vaccuum. Lightly sprinkel the carpets and dogbed again and just leave it there...it'll keep the ticks away, it works for me...granted I *don't* have young babies crawling on my floors
