Good morning!!!

Wow, I can't believe it's Friday again already. Thank goodness. My butt was dragging when the alarm went off this morning.

Well the reason I am posting this morning is to tell you about something very interesting saw last night. You know we have the bunny in our yard. We call her Wild. She used to belong to the neighbors escaped and when finally caught was given to us. I think she is a Mini Rex not sure. She is kinda a calico brown medium size. Well when we first got her she was pulling fur,, we had a bit of a scare but no babies.

Anyways last night just about dusk we were putting the kids to bed and my dh notice a bunny in the yard. After looking out the back widow we noticed 2. One was next to Wilds run. I think they were visiting. The other was about 10 ft closer to us. Then the first came over and played with the second. They were hopping around and looked like they were having a great time. Now I have seen jack rabbits in my yard. These were not jack rabbits. I am almost leaning more toward the theory that these bunnies may be related to Wild. They looked a bit like her.

I guess my question is, would the bunnies remember each other. Is it possible they come to visit her? I know that sounds sentimental but she was hopping around the run and seemed to be very interested in the little ones. I wonder since it's been abut two or three weeks since we got her. Could she have already had kits when the caught her? Then these I bunnies made it on their own without her.

I almost feel obligated to let her go with them. But I think my neighbor would dispose of her if they catch her again. Maybe I should open her run and give them and "open door policy". Oh, that might not be a good idea. I would end up with more. :barnie

Well other than that the garden is doing it's thing. It is finally warming up. Seeds are popping and starting to grow. My dh went and picked me up another small load of horse compost yesterday. I am using it to side dress and hill up my potatoes. I have so many growing. I have the large basket round with about 5 plants, several buckets as well as 4 more in a raised bed. Not sure what I a going to do with so many potatoes.

My tomatoes are struggling. I only bought 3 plants because my neighbor gave me 6. But the ones she gave me are doing awful. I should go with my instincts more often. I was hesitant to plant them because they were sad and dry. I have direct seeded a couple of different types of seeds I bought at Bakersville. Maybe they will get going.

I harvested and ate another batch of beats yesterday. As I have been pulling things out I am amending and re planting new. I put in some eggplants a couple days ago. Some more green bean seeds and those tomatoes. :fl

dh came home with another hair brained idea about going back to work with his dad last night. All I can do is shake my head. I told him I don't like the idea. I also told him knowing his dad the plan will change again and exclude him. So not to get his hopes up.

When will he ever learn?

That's about it for me. Just the usual and trying to keep busy. Thinking about doing some sewing this weekend. Maybe putting together those knotted fleece blankets I have planned for Christmas gifts. I scored a ton of fabric when my local WM was closing their fabric section. I bought enough to make several blankets for dh nieces ad nephews. I guess If I get them done now it will be the earliest Christmas shopping I have ever done.
:D

Have a great day!!

Ahhhh, yes, another Friday....hard to believe we are almost into the 6th month...ALREADY!! WOW! Free bunnys...Hmmm, cant beat that! Are you going to try to catch them? Then what? Meat or pets?
Great score on the fabrics. Getting Christmas done in May...what a relief THAT would be. Altho...as soon as canning season starts...Christmas presents start! LOL
Oh, and about those darned ticks....ask your vet about Comfortis. Its a once a month chewable pill. I think they run about 10 or 12 bucks a piece. It starts working in like 30 minutes! We use it on the outside cats..and my little dogs..not a tick yet! :D

Thanks, I already got another topical. Ran about the same price. It repells within 30 minutes. I just could not aply it until the other wore off.

Canning season, hummmm... The way my veggies are going I won't have that much this year. Maybe I can get some good deals at the veggie stand.

I will not be processing the bunnies. I can't even muster up the nerve to cull a old hen. Ahhhh how will I eve be SS???

Well, grrrrrr.... I had planned on having a pretty normal day. Which for me includes house chores, chickens, and garden. In stead I ran my dog to the vet because he has been licking his toe. It has been sore and bothering him.

:barnie Lets see it went something like this. I gave the dog a pain killer and mild tranquilizer 1 hour before we left. He was muzzled at the vet. He does not like it there. Only bad and painful things happen at the vet. ie...shots, neutering, stitches in the eye... So after he growled and tried to eat the doc she decided he needed to be doped up more, x ray, toenail removal, antibiotics, anti inflammatory oh and more yeast medicine for the gunk they found in his ears two weeks ago. :he

Can you say Cha Ching????? :hit

So I just went and picked up my doped up dog who has a big blue bandage on his paw. Which needs to stay on for a week. Which means supervised potty breaks twice a day on a lead. Oh what fun that's going to be. :clap

(they need a shaking your head in disbelief smiley)

Oh bummer!

I hate it when my day spins out of control and I end up dropping a bunch of dough. :/

Why on earth did they bandage his foot?!

My dog ripped a toenail. Vet took out pliers, pulled off the nail leaving the quick and that was all. She regenerated her toenail.

Bandaging sounds like an infection waiting to happen. I've heard of it happening, but nothing more credible than my former boss who used to be a vet tech had a friend that...

Take it or leave it, but if it was a toeNAIL removed, and not a toe, I'd leave it out to air and not restrict the dog's activity. I also would not give pain meds. Pain is a healthy mechanism to keep silly dogs (and people) from hurting themselves! And I wouldn't give an antibiotic "just in case" because of a wound on the foot!

Then again, I'm very spoiled. I have always worked with vets that respect what I know and won't rip me off. Plus now, my SO is a vet so I can get more information than I would ever want to hear. :gig

And he did tell me that foot injuries should not be bandaged. I asked him about it after he ripped my dog's broken toenail off. :gig

JMHO, FWIW... :hide

Ugh, we've got one that breaks toenails frequently. The two different vets we've taken him to always bandage. It is a royal pain but he did get an infection once when it wasn't bandaged. :idunno

Thanks, from what the vet said it was very infected and stinky. It had broke under the skin I think. They actually removed the whole nail. I guess I should have asked to see the x rays. She didn't give us pain meds just anti inflammatory for swelling and the antibiotics.

I guess this is where your training must come in very handy. I wished you lived closer I would have brought my dog right over. She basically said she wanted to keep it dry. We are rural and open so maybe she figured it would stay cleaner this way.

Who knows, I just follow the directions. :idunno

Thanks, gina

ps I think I will give him some kefir to keep his good beasties up!! :D

Uhhhhh??????, Mostly I chop them up and cook them into my spaghetti sauce. I love a good eggplant Parmesan but have never been all that successful. I only planted 4 so I should be getting to many.

How about you??? Any secret recipes?
