I don't remember Vista getting that hot. Maybe I didn't notice it since I was a kid.

Maybe its the deforestation of our avocados, who knows. Last summer we had a few days near 110 deg. I had 10 chickens keel over dead in one day. Today it was actually about 104. I guess for the past few years we have a week of hot temps mid summer. But last time I checked it was April. I hate to see whats coming.

Spring has sprung and I am keeping busy. I would love to tell you all kinds of exciting things but not much is happening around here. Just how I like it! :D

I went out and took some pics this morning of my garden. Things are coming along nicely. I actually dug up a small potato bed I planted in the fall. There were only 5 little plants and they were not looking to good. So my ds and I pulled them and found a nice little batch. About 30 all varying in size. It was very exciting. Kinda like digging for treasure, you never know what your going to find.

Yesterday I Planted a Loquat tree. My friend has several and I brought home 3 volunteers. All under 1 year. They should fruit maybe next year if not the year after. I am going to try and use some of the fruit for chutneys and my son just loves them.

I was going to try and get some strawberry jam done this weekend. Did not happen, maybe tomorrow.

These are my potatoes.

This is my current carrot bed. About a 4 x 4 ft square.

Here is my new potato basket, I used The Peddler's example.

This is the down hill slope away from my house. It faces east. The white building is my large coop. The fruit trees from left to right are, apricot, peach and the large one is a plum.

Anyways, I just thought I would share. g

Thank you for sharing, Tanks! I simply love seeing everyone else's gardens and coops....it gives a place for any talk that goes on about it and you can picture it better. Your carrots are amazing!!! My mother nor I have ever had any luck with producing good carrots.

What is your secret?

Oh, your raised beds are wonderfully neat looking! So tidy! :)

Tallman, I don't know much about the history of Loquats. I googled loquat and lots of info came up. The fruit is rather small and some people prefer to peel them. I just know the trees grow really quick and produce a ton of fruit. I collected a couple bags last week and tried to make jam. It was kinda difficult. Not much meat. I ended up with some really great loquat/spiced rum flavored syrup. Maybe I will use it for pancakes or something.

Thanks Bee, I don't know about good luck with the carrots. I do know that this year I have been very diligent with thinning them. Last year I had great clumps of twisted carrots. This year I hope to do better. I just started another bed and hope to get some canned this year.

:)

What a beautiful place. This year my carrots are not doing anything. Sure glad yours are. They look great. I have never had a lot of luck but so far this year after three seed starts I think I may end up with 6 carrots.

Thanks for sharing. I too love to see everyones place. It does make it nice to actually be able to see what is going on.
