You guys are so great!!!

Our weather here is so off. We have had drzzle and prety cool temps for the last week. That does not keep me out of the garden though. It actually made for some nice pictures.

Saturday July 10th

Well today my husband egged me on. He wanted to see if there was really something growing under all my potato plants. So I pulled one up. Dug out about 4 huge potatoes and several smaller ones. Woo hoo!!!! Potato success!! Finally.

What brought about this conversation was my potato berries. I have a plant potted in a large garden bucket. It has flowered and is still big and green so I have left it be. But today I noticed it has berries on it. Yes I know there toxic. But what interest me is the fact that these are potatoes planted from seed potatoes I bought at Baker Creek. I think I am going to save them and try to start plants from seed next year.

I took a picture. Please excuse the Heineken. I couldn't take a pic, hold my beer and the plant all at the same time. :lol

Oh, here's another one for you. I planted spaghetti squash in one bed. Just one came up. It has produce 4 large squash. Now another plant is growing. I originally thought it was the same one but the squash are different. I have planted many seeds at the same time and in the same area. I think this may have been something else that grew.

Well I think this is what I have. Lebanese White Bush Marrow Squash.

So here was my picking for this morning. My potatoes, summer squash and spaghetti squash. I will have to remember to pick the gr. beans last next time. They got squashed on the bottom.

Well other than that I had a very productive day. Moved the dog kennel up next to the house. Laid some of my extra pavers around it to keep the weeds down. Pulled a ton of weeds. Planted some more carrots. Trimmed hedges with dh. Then the sun came out. Not used to that so far this summer. So we retreated into the house.

And here I am.

Have a great day.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So why is it that my dh and I are treated like leapers because we want to move. To have an adventure. To start again doing something different. We want to live in a place with wide open fields, with plenty of water and tolerable weather. I just don't get it. Is it because it's out of state? Is it because they won't see us every day? Yeah, like they really want to anyways.
:he
There aught to be places not so far away from Fallbrook that meet your needs. I've lived in a lot of places in California.... there is sooo much there! My favorite was Escondido for weather and gardens etc But Northern Calif. is spectaculare also and around Mt Shasta is pretty nice! and North of Sonma county.

You guys ought to go on a driving vacation and just look around and see if anything inspires you.

Your garden is looking good. My carrots are still only 2 inches tall.
:( but my potatoes are fantasic, but of course this Idaho you know

I would go ahead and plant those potato "seeds", but just because. Potatoes - ALL potatoes do not breed true with the seeds. You will get potatoes, but you will have NO idea what kind they will be. ;)

I don't know what looks better to me right now, all that beautiful, home grown produce or that ice cold beer.
I'm voting for the beer!
I need to shovel more soil on my garbage can potatoes~thanks for the reminder!!
