Wannabee - you had asked earlier about how much stuff to plant in the garden - I found my reference book on recommendations on veggies to plant per person. If you have a specific question, just let me know.

I was going to try a build-as-you-go technique. I have a huge amount of space at my disposal, but the amount of sunlight varies and these sections are tucked into little corners of my property.

I have lots of dung of assorted kinds so my plan was this: Portion off the sunniest sections first for things I need to plant early and this section will include a pseudo greenhouse thangy. I'll get this part fenced off. After that is full, I'll work on the outlying areas where I have to be a little ingenious with each plant so that the varmits and what not do not get it. The beans, corn and potatos will all take up too much space so those things will be outside of the fencing. I also need to plan another fenced area just for pumpkin and disperse sunflower forest sites around the whole property.

I will be taking one section at a time and hopefully putting out starts from indoors, but in advance, I have no idea how far I can get this year. I can't set a terrible pace because of my health issues, so my goal is just to raise "alot" of things we consume. I have a lot of things from which to make recycled fence including lots of pallets, chicken wire, etc. But I doubt my efforts will be that attractive! Good thing Framing Fowl sent me these gorgeous sunflower seeds and cosmos, I hope to use them to disguise all these funny fences!

I like your approach as you're not taking on too much at once! Hopefully you can share some pictures as it develops. :)

My question was how many tomatoes will one plant produce. I can't really go by the average because we use a LOT more tomatoes than the average household between the three of us. But just for grins, what does the book say?
