I use raised beds with pretty light soil. They lend themselves to some nice carrots.

Over the past couple years I have learned a lot about carrots. I have to be diligent about thinning then just leave them alone. Oh, and don't show them to the dog. He steals them right out of the bed. :D I plant in succession, usually about 4 ft square at a time. It's nice to have these now. I think they went in the end of Sept.

Very nice! Fresh carrots just simply taste awesome.

My goal this year was to get something from the garden year round. Very doable considering it almost 80 today. :hide

All I managed this year was carrots, a couple beets and a stray head of lettuce. Spring better hurry!!!

Okay, folks we are nearing the deadline. WannaBeFree and BarredBuff, I'm TALKIN' TO YOU!

By Feb 15th, you need to post your gardening objectives and overall plan for this year's efforts.

It can be as small or large as you want, the idea is push yourself a little with support from your pals here. I think including thoughts on what you are worried/concerned about can be included and might keep the dialogue going.

You have to have a plan? Oh man that's just not my style. You never know whats going to work and whats not. I usually just stack up the seed packs and have them ready. If there's dirt showing I add more.

That's my plan and I'm sticking to it.

*get as much as possible from the garden
*sell extras
*get in a permanent herb garden and don't kill it :p
*grow as much as possible for the goats

I like that plan as a plan, too. Ya never know how things will turn out. :D

I just wanted to make sure WannaBeFree and BarredBuff and I were on equal footing in comparing results. They both have a good 6 weeks or so of extra growing time on me (and lots more free time on their hands). ;)

I still have a couple WEEKS...stop rushing me! :p

I'm working out what seeds I have and what I still need, and am distracted by the cuteness of goats so...I'll probably post Feb 15th

The rest of my Baker creek order is on its way.
Meanwhile, I have started 300 onion seeds.
Still have 900 to go :th
