my plan:
*get the garden fenced in
*get as much as possible from the garden
*dehydrate produce
*sell/ give away extras
*get in a permanent herb garden and don't kill it
*grow as much as possible for the goats
*keep a good journal!!!
*get some apple trees and/or berry plants :fl

okay that's all i promise :p

~approx. 59 days until last frost~

i'm in ohio (harrison county) when should i put up my little greenhouse? it's been getting up to the 50s the last few days... :idunno

Spring's coming, hold on a little longer. :)

I would put the greenhouse out as soon as you think the ground is dry enough to do so. The greenhouse will start warming up the soil on sunny days.

Hello! I actually would join, but my garden is snowed in, and this year I'm focusing on flowers :( I have a dwarf grapefruit tree inside, though, but It won't start to fruit until next year.

:welcome Hello from NE Ohio!

We enjoy all gardening - not just veggies! We just trying to use this thread to spark a little competition and self-motivation to try a harder this year. Just throw out here what your plans are and let us know how things are going.

It's as simple as that. A few of us trash-talk a little, but we won't bug you unless you feel comfortable enough to join in the "ribbing" ;)

I'll trash talk about something when something pops up.... LOL
My Dad will actually be growing everything else this year.... so we still get veggies!!!! I've done a contest like this every year... First Tomato, and Biggest Tomato! I've won them both!!!
The plans for this year are (In order :p )
-Get some seeds and sprout them in a jiffy seed starter/ greenhouse (Do any of you guys use those?)
- Plant them in the garden
- Choose the largest flowering plant and the strongest plants to collect seeds from
- Since, it's going to be summer by then, I can just sprout them in a cold frame I'm building
- Grow those up, replace the weaker ones, and then collect seeds for next year....
All that, and I might get ONE tomato plant so I can compete with my dad :D

Updates, anyone???

I read the germination instructions for Stevia. Wow, seeds in the frig for a week, heated pot after planting, etc. I'm surprised I don't need a warm bottle of milk and and a blankie! This is going to be more difficult than I thought!
