So I figure I'll do 50 Roma plants and 50 whatever the neighbor man has  I WANT those TOMATOES!! They produce like MAD!
Two years ago, I tried the variety "Amish Paste" in addition to my standard Romas. They were later in maturing, but I got a bigger yield.
How were they on flavor? "Hothouse flavor" won't cut it with my bunch of ravenous wolves ;) Ours have to be pretty heavy on flavor.

Straight from garden into the stock pot into the the squeezer, never made it on a plate. I grow three to six varieties for flavor - these provided "bulk" to the juice.

I can still try some out for juice and sauces though if they are heavy producers, just have to grow some for added flavor too, but that should be no problem.

I'm going to try those Hawaiian Pineapples that James suggested for salsa.

I'll have to admit, I am not a big "raw" tomato eater. My wife will make a meal out of one or eat it like an apple. I just can't :) Love 'em on sandiches and salads and pasta dishes, but other than cherry tomatoes, no.

I've never raised them. Do you dry and grind them?

I dry and grind for crushed red pepper because DH eats a LOT of that! I also want to make my own hot sauce from a bunch of them. I pickle some too for Hubs. He LOVES them, but he eats raw jalapenos too just by themselves, no drink....makes me wonder if he even has taste buds sometimes  All that Vit. C though...he's rarely sick!

I would be rude of this Yankee to refuse such Southern hospitality, I accept.

You have a 2.5 to 1 failure ratio on your seeds? Sounds like a ratio I can beat.
