I am and I love seeing meat in the freezer that we raised. I also like that my boys know where their favorite food comes from and that they help.

The rain stops long enough for us to dry out and then we get more :) oh well it could always be worse

I was rear ended this afternoon :barnie No one was hurt - Thank God. Went to pick up oldest DS from school and was on my way back to my office when the car in front of me decided to turn so I had to stop quickly - it had been raining off and on all day so the roads were wet. I managed to stop, but the girl behind me didn't she slid into the back of my truck. The car turning left . . . left! We are fine - probably be a little sore in the morning. My truck is okay - the bumper is a little whacked and I don't think I can open the back hatch, but not too bad. I drive an 03 expedition and I have the tow package so I think that extra metal bar under the bumper helped alot. The girl who hit us had a 2000 Ford Taurus and it wasn't real pretty. Her hood was pushed back, headlights busted, radiator busted fluid leaked out and ran down the road, both airbags exploded. She was a college student and once she was out of the car she started crying like a baby so here I am hugging her telling her it's okay, it was just an accident, no one got hurt, etc. . . .

On the home front . . .
eggs in the bator are due to hatch Sunday (ish) and today when I fed the critters I had a hen trying to be broody :he

picked 3 more strawberries from my bushes - there are 8 - 10 more that will be fully ripe in the next couple of days and a bunch more small ones :ya

found an ad on craigslist today for newzealand bunnies - I'm gonna try to get a buck from him to go with my girls :fl

off to bed - night night everyone

So I got a new zealand buck to go with my does. The guy only had rabbits for the fertilizer they provide :D He started with 2 - apparently a buck and doe and ended up with a pen full - all in a 3 x 6 ish pen :ep with the door on one of the 3 foot sides. It was obvious that they weren't handled and catching them was fun. It took a while cause everything we caught was a doe but finally we caught a buck. It appears to be his original buck - I need to call him back cause in all the excitement I forgot to ask him how old this one was - he had originally advertised the newest litter of 2 mos olds. I learned a valuable lesson when I moved him from the box to his quarantine pen - ALWAYS wear long sleeves when handling a new rabbit - yeah he got me but good! Scratched from elbow to wrist on my left arm and from my upper chest to my belly button. He's now resting quietly in the quarantine pen - I'm fairly sure I need to put some oil in his ears, but I think I'll hold off til tomorrow and let him calm down.

I stayed home from work today because 5yo DS has an ear infection - he has asthma and anytime he gets any kind of infection his asthma flares so double yuck :/

I didn't go out 1st thing this morning to feed the bunnies, ducks and geese and now I'm glad I didn't! My doe is due to have babies this week so I was looking in the back corner of her cage where I put the nest box and I noticed something above looking at me!! It was a good sized oak snake - anywhere else I will leave them alone, but in the pen with my critters it's gotta go!

No laughing at my construction skills  I am going to build them a better setup but I had to use what I had for now. I was originally going to cover the top with that chicken wire - had already stapled down the back side and then remember the baby gate and it works wonderfully :D The red arrow in the back corner is where it was:

The eggs in my bator were due yesterday - so far I have 2 chicks and 1 guinea. This was my first hatch and I had humidity issues and had to help 1 chick and the guinea. I haven't had any more pips so I am debating what I should do :hu Here are the 3 cuties I have at the moment the small silver lookin one is the guinea - I took them out after I finished with the snake

I will have to google Oak snake. Are they poisonous? I am sure it was hungry and looking for lunch. Great job taking care of it. :thumbsup

Dang that is a long snake!

Bless you for being so kind to a young driver.

My DD is 19 and was on her way home from work one night a couple weeks ago and got rear ended. It was about 9:15pm, dark and she was alone. The guy was not helpful and did not even want to exchange information. She had never been in an accident and was scared being on the side of the road with a less than cooperative grown man.

Hugs to you for being so kind!
