It's raining today :/ guess it's housework day instead of working on getting my stuff done in the gardens. I have a little laundry i can do, and i need to make bread today. Really going to be a boring day around here :p I am SO glad I had some sunshine yesterday though :love

I just sold my little female potbelly from the first litter :( I hated to see her go, she has such a sweet temperament and was such a little pet. She was super small, and just so loving. I'll definately miss Dixie pig, she's the only pig I ever really liked  She is going to be a little girls pet now though, and the girl can give her more attention than we could, so it's all for the best :) That kid loved her from the second she saw her so that was cool. Dixie will have a great new family! It was funny in a way though because they didn't bring a cage or anything, they just put her in the back of their Jeep Liberty, which meant we had to carry her to the truck...and pigs adamantly do NOT like being picked up...yeeeeeeah it was fun. I still can't hear well out of my right ear....and can't tell if the phone is ringing or if it's just my eardrum still vibrating  I bet the neighbors for miles around heard her. I've never heard a pig so loud in my life!! As soon as her feet were firmly planted into the back of that truck...instant silence. Poor piggy! The little girl wasn't phased though, she thought it was funny too, and didn't freak out thinking we were hurting her pig ;)

I have one sow left to sell, and then my bacon pig is still out there to be raised up for meat. So, I'm out of the potbelly business for now. It was fun while it lasted, but I can't say I'm sorry to see them go, except for Dixie. I'll keep two pigs a year to grow out for meat and that will be the extent of my pig experience from now on. Barring a great deal and quick turnover, I won't be permanently housing any more. I do do a bit of rehoming from time to time, but hope to avoid that entirely for at least the next few months while we get this garden and produce situation well established! Animal feeding time is going to be cut way down now by early next week :)
