Blessed day of rest, why can't there be more than one a week?!? I'm enjoying sitting on my bootay today! I did cook lunch, and go to church, but...well...that's just a given, and i will water the greenhouse and poke around outside for a bit, but actual WORK...I am glad to be shed of for the rest of the day I'm going outside to play I hope everybody else is enjoying themselves!!
I got 70 meat chicks...I didn't really mean to, the lady told me they were Cornish, but NOT the Cornish cross, so I'm thinking Dark Cornish....nope, they're meaties. I did get a great price on them though, so will sell off several and raise and butcher the rest. They are already over a week old, so that cuts the cost of raising them by quite a bit, and cuts the brooder running, and that cost. I got them for 84 cents each, practically stole the darn birds, and with fuel cost and time considered I have about $1.25 each in them right now. I'll sell about 35-40 of them at $2 each, I have some neighbors wanting some to raise and butcher, so I think I can get rid of that many, I hope anyway! I don't really have room for 70!!! i get myself into a mess sometimes
I have to go pick up some Pekins and guineas later, then stop off and get some RIR chicks as well. That's part of my work for this weekend is reselling those. I'm getting REALLY good prices, and people are paying just stupid ridiculous prices on these animals, so as long as I can buy low, sell high, I'm doing it. It'll give the farm a boost. I already have the Pekins and guineas sold, just got to take them there and nearly double my money
I've got to get in the greenhouse today and get watering done and some more stuff started. I got the brooders set up for the monster birds and got them fed, and got the rest of the animals fed. I just got done eating lunch and can't pick up any birds until after 3, so off I go!
I ti'erd. Lotsa driving today. I got a bunch of birds and have most of them sold already. Some folks are coming to pick up today. Those meaties are just monstrosities already eating like big birds!!
Busy bee!! You absolutely need 2 Sundays a week. I could use an extra Sunday as well. I slept in yesterday and with the time change I lost 2 1/2 hours. Kicking myself :/
That's the truth and I have to be far more limber. Sometimes I have so many irons in the fire that it's hard to let time slip away. Oh well there is always tomorrow right?
I know the feeling I'm exhausted! We got a load of steel today and I did laundry and cooked and worked in the greenhouse, and gathered another load of steel to haul off tomorrow......now i just want to go to bed, but I have work to do on the computer Sooooooo sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepy
Yesterday was a 100 mile circle to pick up about 50 chickens. Got home about 5 and someone came and got 20 of the birds. Today I have a neighbor coming for 25 of the meatie babies. We hauled steel today, and made a few bucks there. we're working up another load this afternoon to take tomorrow when we get back from Tupelo/Pontotoc/Amory. I have a trip to Sam's planned around a few more pick ups. I can't wait till Saturday...and then Sunday to REST! We've made a few hundred already this week, and hoping to make more at the market this weekend. I'm tired...hesitant to remove my butt from the couch tired I have a load of laundry started though, and need to make bread and get back in the woods for at least a couple more hours today. Sometime tomorrow or Friday we have to get some more plants started and get some things set out. I need to go pick some of our lettuce tonight for BLT's for dinner
Anyway...that's my day. Hope everyone has had a great one!!! Happy Pi day!!!
