It would be a lot of beef. You could start making your own dog food. Jerky. Hamburger. Steaks. You could sell some.

Hows the goat milk?

Are the ducks laying? :pop
700 pounds *might* be manageable.
That was the "hanging" weight. After trimming off the fat and deboning, the 1/2 beef filled the standing freezer to about 1/2 -2/3 capacity. I think I remember the slaughter charge was $40, and it was $2.50/lb for the butcher shop to process, but we did that ourselves.

How big is the clutch? How old are they?
Not sure. They are way up in our old CH&A unit on a metal ledge up in there where I can't get to them. I HOPE they are brooding! Otherwise...we gonna have a stink before long

I see. I think ours are close together in age. So I may take a Duck hen tommrow and put it in the empty rabbit cage and see if she is laying. If she is....Im gonna need a gameplan soon. I dont want them brooding out in the yard. We have way to many hungry animals lurking..............

Oh ok...still just learning. I have not much of a clue about cattle raising/butchering etc. It has been a LOOOOOOOOng time since I had anything to do with cows, and i didn't pay much attention then because I was a stupid teenager..no offense to present company intended ;)

With the distance involved, I'm not really sure it would be a deal.

I would love to raise a Dexter steer on our place or maybe rent barn space from the next door neighbors.

I love our beef, particularly on the grill.
