poor girl, between being pregnant and the move and probably a lack of attention shes probably terrified AND defensive.
going to have to be really carefull when she farrows, some sows can be SERIOUSLY mean with babies, good news is by 2 weeks there pretty much ready to be weaned, the eralier you can pull and pan feed the babies the friendly they will be, (and if she is malnourished, the easier itll be to get her back in shape and tame her down)

im definatly interested in baby piggy, :) keep me updated on her if you havent already you may want to put up some pig rails in her house so she doesnt squish the babies accientally.
theres nothing cuter than newborn piggies :p

sounds like you also deserve a realy QUIET night *hugs*

I'll definately keep you updated! I may need advice, as I have NO EXPERIENCE with a farrowing sow.. at. all. It makes me a bit nervous due to her condition. I may have understated her size a bit. When I went out later she somehow looks bigger than I remember if that makes any sense at all :p She is pretty small though to be so far pregnant IMO. I dunno...Kita is 95, and she is a good bit smaller than her, but I think she's pushing 2/3 her size. I'll have to get kita out there to stand close so I can tell more about her size and try to get a more accurate gauge. I think she may be 60 ish though. I don't believe she'd be considered micro at least. You'll have to come see her ;)

No such thing as quiet around here anymore  I gotta trudge down to the neighbors, and start my to do list for the week. I'm picking maters tomorrow for sure, as I already have one order and two potential orders.

money making is good...but only if you survive the process of making it lol

im no expert by any means, but ive gone through a few as a kid, the good news is pigs are usually excelent mommas, the biggest risk is one getting behind her (between her and a wall) and her rolling/pinning and squishing them. or if shes not been well fed, her producing no milk (that ones usually pretty obvious though sometimes the milk doesnt come in untill imedaily at farrowing, but when shes lay youll clearly see full mammeries (jus tlike in dogs) usually they have to be SERIOUSLY bad shape to not produce though.

She's in fair shape, not too thin or anything, just seems a little neglected. I do not see any signs of her producing milk yet.

It has been a weird Monday. Nothing is going quite as planned. I still have 75 pounds of maters to sell....it has done got too hot though, so maybe tomorrow. The 75 pounds is at least after breaking even this morning, so I am not worried about the rest right now. I have two more buyers for tomorrow already lined up, which will buy me out of those anyway.

I have to make bread and mayo for the neighbors, and figure out what's for supper. I am currently pigging out on fresh organic blueberries :drool

I skipped. Then the stupid boy I was getting the pot belly from still didn't show when he was supposed to :rant Anyway I got a sow...a pot belly sow, the other had babies last night, and lost all five of them. So I got the pot belly girl that is pregnant. Not what I had anticipated, but I can still pull a profit if she has a successful litter. She's due any day. I got pics too :D I'm calling her Myrtle for now. :hu

Am I the only one who thinks Myrtle's eye's are really expressive, like a humans???? OK, I admit, I have zero knowledge of pigs, so maybe that's it :p
