Karen,
Just to warn you...parent participation is pathetic. Typically it will be about 10-20% who contribute 80-90% of what is needed.
Get used to it, not likely going to change. :barnie

I hit the dollar store first thing this morning. I don't know if it's because of Turkey Day but mine had some great food stuffs. I found those little manderin oranges in a 4 pack. Perfect for the kids lunches. They had sweet pot and a ton of tom sauce and tom products. All in prety big cans. Whoo Hoo!!!
I also went for school stuff. For some reason my DD kindergarten class had no plans for Thanksgiving. Which is odd Because son in 3rd grade is haveing Heritage Fest Feast and DD in preschool is haveing a feast. All at the same school. Some lame excuse about the day being to short. I changed that. I am making pumpkin pies and the teacher is going to have the kids make those cute little vest out of brown bags. they will be working with chapel buddies one writing what they are thankfull for. It sould be very fun. :D

Oh, I also went and bought oats, rice and sugar in bulk. Much better price that way. I guess i did spend but all at great prices.

I stocked up on butter. That's the lowest price I've seen in some time. This is another low cash week for me, so I'm waiting to cash my paycheck and then I will go get even more butter. Mmmmmmm butter. :D

Wher do you go to buy bulk? We have a Bulk Barn (store's name) butI can't really say it's cheaper to buy there. I find it cheapr to buy in grocry stores during sales.

I went to Kroger today and bought 2 turkeys. One was 26.49 pounds and the other was 27.09 pounds and each of the turkeys was $12.00. I am going to go back and get 2 more for canning.

To me that is not a bad price for a turkey of that weight. Anyways, it saved about $3 to $4 per turkey.

Did I mention we love turkey. :)

We had a stay home day again so no money spent there. Today we are going to get Pics taken for the homeschool group yearbook. I will stop by Fry's on my way home to see if they have the butter in yet they ran out of last week. It was Land O Lakes for $1.50/lb with a limit of 10(I am getting 10 of them!!) Spend now to save later again.

I bought the sugar and rice at my local bulk store. I am not sure how great of a deal it was but it was a better cost than the small bags. Which I normally get. the sugar was a 25lb bag for 11 dollars.

I have been buying those gamma seal lids and filling buckets as a extended pantry this summer.

The oatmeal came from a local health foods store by the lb. I think it ran like 50cents a lb.

I have a hard time waiting for sales, it seems as I allways miss them. I did however get a 10lb ag of pot for 99cents. :)

Some day we should all sit down a do a cost comparrison on staples according to the region we live in. I think it would be interesting.

ship me 10 also. $1.50 per lb....cheapest here on sale is $2.50 per lb.

great deal! big time!
I need to check Sam's Club for butter prices. I have to make a run there for a few things and I think it is time to check out some prices on staples again.

We gave 2 week notice to the boys daycare...We will find alternatives for the four days a week that I work now.

We will be saving the cost of daycare - $800 to $1100 - depending on the month.

I will be taking two weeks of vacation time in December and will actually spend the time with kids, instead of having them go to daycare "because I had to pre-pay for it."

We will still need to spend some for my adult son to pick them up at school and bring them home to his house, or take them to the shop...Times are too hard to be forking out the money just for them to have somewhere to play after school for 3 hours.
