Thanks for the warning on the cat.

As for the ducks, one hatched out "a little bit special". Head flopped back, can only go in circles. When i found her kicked out of the nest she was on her back, so there has been a tiny bit of improvement. Anyway, since her legs seem strong and she isn't distress peeping, I'm giving her a chance. So far I gave her some water spiked with brewer's yeast and some poly vi sol. Anything else I can do for her?

Right now she is wrapped in a piece of flannel and sleeping by my neck. I named her Twister. I hope she makes it but I am prepared for the most likely scenario.

My sister had a duck like that she called him "Iggy" short for Igor. That deformity is the result of low incubation temperatures. That egg must have been on the outside of the nest or gotten rolled out a few times.

Her Iggy made it with the other ducks for quite some while before the inevitable happened. He did get left behind if the herd (yes, my sister has a herd of ducks! :p ) went too far, which is how he eventually got eaten by a predator.

It is weird sounding, but give her sand to nibble on. There is some mineral in it that helps correct neuro issues.

Sand eh? I'll try that tomorrow if she makes it. Right now Twister is in my hand snoozing. I kind of have her positioned "correctly". I added raw acv and a splash of kefir to her vitamin water cocktail. Got a few drops in to her. Since she is only a few hours old, she wont be making much effort to eat or drink on her own yet. She is pretty feisty when she's awake. I give her about a 25% chance as of right now.

I agree with the incubation temp issue. Lexi had 2 out of 8 hatch like that last time and she was horrible about turning eggs. Those 2 didn't make it. This time she had only 1 hatch messed up out of a mob. So she did a better job this time.

Twister is still with us and appears slightly less twisted. She has PLENTY of energy and she is strong...just gets frustrated that her head isn't cooperating. She pooed, and is trying to groom herself...both very good signs.

Gave her more vitamin water, a little egg yolk and a snuggle and put her back in her bucket (lined with a felted wool pouch) for a nap. Updates later :D

Awwwww! What a good nurse you are being :)

I have to go get dressed. Imooto is stopping by. But it's hot and I don't wanna. She's seen me before, surely I don't have to get dressed today, right?

But I think we're going OUT somewheres. *sighs*

Stupid outsector and it's stupid shame driven rules. I guess I'll be a girl and fuss at my poofy tummy (but it is SOOOO worth it. Azuki ice cream wrapped in mochi balls with real whipped cream!!!) and claim that clothing will hide it? *stomps off grumbling about America and it's stupid clothing laws*

At least I'll be showing off two new things I sewed! That's happy. I like to show off.
