Ok...this is how my life typically goes...

So I got that shiny new bike. I put it together at the shop because that is where hubby dropped the box off so he could get the rest of the stuff. Then hubby brought me a pump because the tires were only partially inflated. So hubby saw I had the bike mostly together and brought the bike home. Before he could get the bike in the car, he had to take the pump OFF THE BIKE. So he brings home the bike and leaves the pump. So he tells me to use the air compressor. Ok. Grab the box of compressor parts to see if I can find the bike tire compatible piece. Nope. Tell hubby and he looks at me like I am nuts. Then he goes and looks. Hmmmm. Nothing fits. Then he says "I bet that part on the hand pump would screw in to this!"

I said "you mean the one you left at the office?". :gig

Days later, after the pump has ridden around in hubby's car enjoying the sites and sounds of the city, I may finally get the pump AND the bicycle tires in the same place at the same time. :p

Also, I guess I have been doing my part to feed the local raptor population. 3 of my quail escaped. The fact that two of them were Simon and River is no end of amusement...but anyway...I have been trying to track them down. Left out food, set a trap, etc... But hubby reported falcons hanging out in the yard the other day and we suddenly can't hear Simon crowing from the alley anymore. Saw Wednesday yesterday morning but she hid in some thick brush and I lost her. Haven't seen her since and 4 falcons were in the neighbors tree this morning. River was my first escapee and I haven't seen a single sign of her. So yeah. Pretty sure the falcons are fat and sassy now.

I think I found the place they were getting out and added more netting in questionable areas. My old quail are big and fat and couldn't get out. The new quail are smaller and thinner so could squeeze out. Brats. Rebuilding part of the quail pen was on "the list" but money is tight and......

I have to rebuild the entrance to the duck pen. That was ALSO on the list, but since I walked in to the pen yesterday and a cross piece came lose and hit me on the head, it has gone to the top of the list and I will do it this weekend. ** ouch **

Hubby's "list" is also getting long. He was threatened with no beer and steak if he doesn't fix the ice maker. That ought to get him motivated.

I also managed to get the new Explorer stranded. Hubby was warned it would need a new fuel filter because it had sat for months before being sold. The guy we got it from had bought it from his boss and replaced the fuel pump and filter...but was told to replace the filter again. Hubby put FILTER on "the list". I was running errands and went up a steep hill and it stalled. Acted like it was out of gas but it wasn't. Had to get it towed. So hubby replaced the filter :p. It is running fine now.

So after I get Max on the bus to adult daycare, I get to go get plates. Arg! DMV!! I have been running around all week and that won't stop today. My house is trashed. My lawn needs work, and we have to put out another issue of the paper this weekend. I need about 3 days with no Max, no Ed and NO CATS to get caught up. Anyone want to keep them for me so I can clean?

The bike has air in the tires now, and I just need to adjust the seat and handlebars. The Explorer (or the Exploder as we call it) still needs a little work. We figured out that it stalls when it gets hot. A quick google search on some truck forums are pointing towards and injector pump. I love forums. There is always a great chance that someone out there is having the same issue as you and already asked someone about it. We figured we would have to put up to $500 in to it to get it up to snuff. So far we have spent less than $200 so we are are track. It is still fine for short trips.

In fact, I used it going garage sailing this morning. I figured I would make a few stops before I went to Lowes for lumber. One sale was a business friend of ours. I mentioned I was heading to Lowes after I hit a few sales to get lumber and she says "Lumber? I've got lumber I need to get rid of!" So I got about $75 worth of 4x4s, 2x6s and 1x2s for $11. I spent another $2 on some window screen fabric and an old Coleman cooler. Those red Coleman's are the perfect size to hold 50# of feed and they are pretty air tight so things stay fresh. TOTAL SCORE! So working on a new entry for the duck pen as my energy level permits :D

Hit the duck pen with sweet pdz and a fresh layer or straw, so of course now I hear thunder. Oh well, it looked great for a little bit :D

Good news about Twister...she can SWIM! She can maintain enough control over her head and neck to swim AND dive! I let her and Parcheesi out of their little tractor pen this morning so they could play in the yard. The made a beeline to the pond and Parcheesi went right in. I was surprised that Twister went in right after her. She seemed a little uncoordinated at first, but got it together in no time. They splashed and dove and ate minnows and had a total blast. At one point, Twister dove down and popped up with some string algae on her back and totally flipped out. :gig Fortunately Parcheesi was there to eat it for her. So when Kai is done with that tiara.....

With a small flock I have the luxury of doting on an animal others might cull. I can understand someone not spending the extra time and effort and hold no ill will towards those people. I may very well have made a different decision with a drake. :hide

Your life sounds like mine. Hope you find that little chunk of time to do the duck pen and quail area. Someday I want to get quail again so might be contacting you. Next time you're up this way, give me a holler.

Uh, need a wether?

I'm picturing Twister wearing one of those nose-pinching clamps the synchronized swimmers wear......
