I heard that melon calling my name today as well! Only the one whispering my name was a $4.00 watermelon.

We also came home with two quart boxes of peppers (more jalapenos and scotch bonnets) for $2.00 each.
Twenty six BIG ears of great sweet corn - $10.00
Two big boxes - 1 peaches & 1 nectarine - $5.00 each

I guess I should weigh mine but we have already been munching..

Huh, I went to our farmer's market yesterday. I don't know if they are growing this stuff in gold dust or what... tomatoes are $3 a pound, blackberries are $5 a pound, potatoes are $1 a pound. You get the idea. NO BARGAINS.

The only thing they grow in gold dust around here are the peaches. If I would have known they sold for so much when I was buying trees, I would have gotten peach instead of pear and apple trees.

Gosh I didn't even realize peaches grew there. We have a few orchards here in E. Tenn. but not many. I used to get a big box free when I worked in S. Ga. One of the supervisors at Levi's always brought me a box. I didn't know how to appreciate them then.

what kind of pear trees do you have? I've been looking at getting Asian Pear trees, they make the best pear jam and they taste even better right off the tree than bartletts!

Since my tree was a charlie brown-looking uber mark down end of season tree, I'm not sure. I know it ISN'T an asian pear because I LOVE THOSE!!! I think it is a bartlett.

I am pretty sure I know who it was....but she is 8. 10 at the most. I confronted her and her mom, grandma and great grandma. Of course they didn't see anything. Then they said "She was playing the next street over all day!". I said, "I know...that is where I live!"

I tried to be nice and let her feed the ducks some peas earlier today. She is friends with the girls that live across the street. I told that mom about the trashed pen and the missing quail too so they know this girl isn't to be trusted. Apparently she kept bugging the friends mom saying she wanted one of their chinchillas. She asked me for a bird too and I told her no. Later I had to go back to work. Hubby came home 10 minutes later. So in that 10 minutes she took a crate from one side of the yard, put it in the quail pen, tore apart my small cage in the pen. knocked over their water, threw the dustbath pan inside the hutch and ripped the netting.

There is a good chance the quail got away so I have been looking for them...but now it is getting dark. If I don't find them NOW, they will be falcon food. There will be some new locks on gates and pen fixing this weekend.

And here I was all excited I made some money selling 2 of my ducks.
