:woot

I love that :D I feel the same way supporting my dairy. They had a fridge and 2 trucks die the same week and everyone pitched in to get everything working again. It's just cool.

Thanks to you all for supporting your local farmers. I am just drained from the heat when I have to be out picking the okra, beans, squash - and I do it early morning. Hubby works out in the 95+ temps all day long. It's worth it when we have wonderful customers who ask us how to cook things and thank us for growing fresh fruits and veggies for them. We didn't go to today's market and I've been at a loss all day - seems like we skipped Saturday and went straight to Sunday. Now if those green patches will just grow we'll be set for the fall market.

Heck yeh!! I do all I can to support local. I believe that if everyone voted with their money and had integrity (bitching about jobs in India and then buying everything made in China just doesn't quite make sense, somehow), the local scene would flourish.

Once I move up by the dairy, I'm going to ask if I can trade labor for shares. :D

I heard that melon calling my name today as well! Only the one whispering my name was a $4.00 watermelon. :drool

We also came home with two quart boxes of peppers (more jalapenos and scotch bonnets) for $2.00 each.
Twenty six BIG ears of great sweet corn - $10.00
Two big boxes - 1 peaches & 1 nectarine - $5.00 each

I guess I should weigh mine but we have already been munching.. :p

I balled and froze one of the cantaloupes last night. Once the melon balls were nice and solid, I made instant ice cream out of them!

Put frozen melon balls in the food processor with an s-blade.
Cover melon balls with heavy cream.
Add the juice of 1 lime.
Sweeten to taste with a little honey, erythritol, stevia, etc...
Pulse the melon and cream mix until it is the consistency of soft serve ice cream.
Scoop in to bowls and place in the freezer for a couple of minutes to set

Only make as much as you need. This DOES NOT freeze well. It turns out as hard as a rock. But I wouldn't worry about making too much. There are never leftovers :D

This same method can be used with strawberries, raspberries & blueberries. Just freezer solid first.

It's the lack of sugar. Sugar is what raises the freeze point.

I cannot freeze any of my frozen custards unless I need a rock.

I thought about experimenting with vodka or rum in the mix and then freezing. Do you think 1/4 cup would work?
