OMG AL, I am LOVING your dog pics!!! I love the pic of Elmo and Buford, and the pic of Buford and the boys in teh water makes me just want to ball like a baby it's so sweet!!! I just want to give sweet old Buford a big hug!
Thanks, everybody. I am really sad. Not freaking out upset, but just down. Stink was a great little hen - she would come when called, fly up on my lap to have a front row seat for treats... just a neat little chicken.
I really really want to be angry at the dogs, but I know it is nobody's fault but my own. Yesterday Stink had flown out of my backyard and was on the wrong side of the garden fence. I was on my way to work so I called her and put her back in the yard - thinking today I would need to clip their wings.
The dogs are in the big yard, the chickens are in my little privacy fenced backyard (a yard within a yard). Rio is fabulous with them when I am outside, or even if he is alone with them in their yard (as in - if I forget something and step back inside for it, he is never alone for long time)... the psycho BO even attacks him and follows him to do it! (of course SHE couldn't be hawk bait)
but I am not so naive as to think he didn't lend a helping hand. I just am not having much chicken luck lately - poor Pat and her bloody head (they got her again this morning so I guess I'll just have to put a lamp on her at night and leave her by herself, now that Stink is gone) , the Buff Orp lost to the hawk, and now sweet Stink.
Had my doctor appt and no problems on the MRI for my knee except arthritis. We're looking at some injections as a possibility but it depends on how much my insurance pays - I'd rather just deal with the pain than put anymore $ towards this knee if there isn't something serious wrong with it.
Thanks, Aggie - Buford is the sweetest dog ever.
Guess I need to go round up chickens and trim wings. *sigh*
Sorry about the knee. As I sit here with a swollen foot, I can tell you that arthritis stinks!
Most kinds of arther improve with gentle movement. I also recommend dropping the coin for a GOOD knee brace. Professional's Choice This is the one we paid about $200.00 for when it was prescribed to my hubby by his orthopedic doctor. Worth its weight and I would pay that again if I had to. SO far outclasses regular braces. It'll keep you going.
Your yard sounds like my arrangement. I have to keep wings clipped pretty well, too.
After my dog ate the chicken, she showed a lot of interest but now that we have been working on that for about six months, she has changed to being afraid of them. She knows we get mad at her when she looks twice at them!
