Hope you ended up with more rest than I did! Rough weekend rest wise - I am still spent.

Buddy has decided if he pulls the side of the barn off he can get to the feed room - I kid you not, he is pulling with his teeth, pushing with his head. We had to put some screws in so he doesn't get his fool head caught between the tin and the post!
Other than dealing with the brat, I didn't do much yesterday, but I also didn't feel rested at all. Hope I am not getting sick... it has been ages since I have been sick other than just sinuses.

This morning I started 6 seed pots each of Homestead, Beefsteak and Amish Paste tomatoes. I will buy some plants around March, how many depends on what these seeds do.

This week's goals:
- buy more fertilizer
- plant last row of peas
- get potatoes ready to plant (plant Friday?)
- till patch for onions, also put some in containers
- see if I can "borrow" my nephews to clean the hay loft, because the foster coordinator is supposed to bring about 20 bales of hay and no room in the storage stall
- plan a day to take the boys downtown to the historic district and torture... I mean.... take their photos for my sister

You are so far AHEAD! I have such a long time until last frost, planting peas sounds like something for the distant future!

Enjoy FL! You can remind me to enjoy WA during hurricane season.

These are "Little Marvel" garden peas... not cowpeas like pinkeyes or anything - almanac says cooler weather is better, so 1/15-2/15 plant dates for my zone. :hu we'll see

We are expected to get the Florida version of the big storm.... severe thunderstorms, almost tropical storm force winds, hail and tornado watches.

Probably wash away my peas

Around here we can't expect to plant garden peas even, until at least March 15 and then we sometimes lose them. :/

I just hope this storm doesn't wash them away. It figures, we dont' have rain for weeks, and then we get a storm with 'severe thunderstorm, heavy rainfall, damaging winds" in the description.
At least it isn't snow and ice though, brrr!

Well, we are very fortunate that we dont' have ice and snow!
Right now we are under a tornado watch though, with crazy winds! There was a gust registered about 40 miles north of here of 70mph!
Thunder rumbling - lightning striking and rain in torrents. Looks like they expect it to end for us in just another hour or so though.

I did call before it got bad and asked my dad to go to my house and move Pat to the big chicken house instead of her little tarp shelter.

I never realized what a secure building I work in! I have a drainage pipe (reclaims rain from the rooftop - our whole campus is "green") right behind my desk and I could tell it was pouring rain, and I could faintly hear the thunder. It only lasted a couple of hours and I rated the storm a "zero".
And then I drove home at 130am. I had to stop on one stretch of road, tie a tow chain to a small pine tree and drag it out of the road (lane ;) ) so I could get home! Once home I found that the meatie shelter had blown down (thanks, Dad, for going up and moving Pat to the real chicken house!), one of our ancient pear trees that was split in half by Ivan and had been growing back together lost half, part of my pasture fence was down and the big field gate was partially under the tree.

Apparently we lost power because everything was blinking in the house - my folks said theirs was out for 2-3 hours.
I had a dentist appointment this morning and passed this gas station that lost its canopy:

The temp has dropped around 8 degrees since this morning, the wind is still sustained at about 20mph with higher gusts and it is a grey dreary day outside.
So on a brighter note - Rio and Buddy sharing a kiss

Wow. It always impresses me how much damage something invisible like the wind can do. Glad that for the most part your stuff was OK and that all the animals and people stayed safe.

Cute kiss!
