Yeah I was very glad my dad moved Pat for me - the shelter didn't totally fall in, but I know it would have scared her to death and she would have been soaked and cold.
They are now expecting freezing rain here in the morning. I'll believe it when I see it - fortunately I don't have to be out on the road with these crazy folks if it does ice up!!
So I am freezing. And the temp is not as cold as it has been (I know, I know) ... nausea, aching. Blah
I only tossed hay to the horses today because I didn't make it to the feedstore. Gave the chickens feed and made sure Pat had plenty of straw to snuggle into until I get home tonight (winds are still brutal). Her shelter is fixed but I still wanted to put extra bedding in. Also put extra straw in Rio's doghouse so while he "stands guard" waiting for me to come home he can at least curl up out of the wind (we put the doghouse by my front gate because he won't leave the gate).
Now I am searching for dog-friendly hotels in Texas near my niece. She is getting married in March and I don't like driving that 10hrs alone (especially since I am navigationally impaired ) , so Rio will be going with me. He'll stay with me most of the time, but I'll put him at her vet for the evening of her wedding and pick him up the next day to come home. When I went for her graduation I put him in my ex SILs backyard and he jumped the fence (fortunately he laid by my truck - I'd ridden with my niece to go bowling). Then I tied him out on a coated cable, away from trees etc... but I was still a nervous wreck. I figure it'll be worth boarding costs to have him somewhere safe.
I'll go back for my nephew's high school graduation in May, so this will all be handy information then as well. It is crazy how hard it is to find a hotel that accepts dogs over 20-30lbs!! One says 2 dogs up to 50lbs.... so they should take 1 dog that is 100lbs, right?
It isnt' really cold here, but so damp that the chill goes right through you. It is grey and nasty out again.
So I am thinking this may be why some of y'all are having trouble with your hens not laying - has nothing to do with light, weather or molt , you need egg layer seed! http://pensacola.craigslist.org/grd/2197690303.html
