Actually your comment about technology specifically rings true for me.
Way back when I left the public school was when most of my friendships ended. I would often call and check up on one specific friend and they had less and less to say each time, and only called back twice. After that it was always me making the effort, so I just stopped. But when I would run into him he would act as if nothing had changed, gossiping about a bunch of silly stuff, the things he had been doing, the movies he had seen. When I mentioned to invite me next time he said 'Well I would have invited you to the last couple, but you don't have a cell phone to text.' UM. HELLO? So yes, as long as there is no effort on their part everything is fine. :idunno

I think I need to find a little old lady to befriend.

Not a bad idea at all. Plenty of us out here! ;) Won't really take the place of having someone your age to pal around with but friendship sometimes comes in strange packages.

It really took a few pages for me to catch up.

I just want you to know I love you all. :love Such a bounty and wealth of knowledge all rolled into one.

I am not all that great at putting things into words. Sometimes they just get stuck in the back of my throat.

But you guys are all amazing and I feel truly blessed to have you.

Each and every one of you carries a lesson which we can all benefit from.

I agree that technology has created a disconnect form real life. But in this case it enables me to learn from you. So I think it has it's good side as well.

Ok I got to get a tissue.

Pretty good at summing it up if you ask me!

She is SO right sometimes I am feeling so alone with my problems, but I post them here and you all always seem to be able to dish out the right medicine to fix my problem... or at least make me feel loved enough to handle it! How great that we have a place where SOMEONE understands how stressed I am feeling because my tomatoes have spots or my chicken has a limp. Other people that feel that same urgent need to get the rest of the tomatoes into a jar!

The only bad thing about these friendships is the distance between us friends. :/ I bet half a dozen of US would have loaned you a car or least gotten up early and stayed up late to drive you a hundred miles to where you needed to be. I KNOW I would have. Just to be able to visit on the car ride to where you needed to be would be pay enough.

I guess we need to feel blessed that we have each other at all.

Even with the distance it is amazing how many times I have received a PM an email or a call from one of you ... just when I needed it most. Thanks! :)

:love :hugs Now I'M crying! Tank and Farm, you are so very right...this is the place I keep returning to. The friends I so desire can be found on this forum each and every time! You all give me such support and love that I shouldn't want for more....except that you live closer.

You live closer in my heart, is all I know. :love

Got a new puppy today....don't ask! I wasn't supposed to pick up this critter until the end of Oct. but its mother was attempting to wean already....too many pups in the litter. I wasn't even for sure I would be getting one...was just going to look at them and contemplate it for awhile.

So...we've got a howling, whimpering puppy in by the stove right now that quiets down instantly and goes to sleep just as long as you hold him. He misses his mom and 10 other litter mates.

Instead of the breeding these folks described, I think this pup is part Newfie instead of St. Bernard...the whole litter is black with white chest markings and some white tips on the toes. Blocky head and wavy, coarse hair, huge paws....definitely has a SB/Newfie build but the color is Newfie.

Mother looked like a Visla...no characteristics at all of a lab or golden retriever.

As soon as I get him bathed and presentable I will post a pic of the newest family member, Dewley. Not Duke as I had planned...he is definitely a Dewley.

How did I let myself get into this? :he :p
