'Cause you are a sucker for needy creatures! :gig

Actually this will probably work in your favor! Now is the time to introduce him to the chickens and other animals in his care. Young pups like this need more love and care, but they are also WIDE open to any socialization and training you want to teach them. Besides he is just what you need to keep you warm for the cold winter ahead!

I did! First four-legged dog to ever grace my bed.... :p

He just couldn't do without a warm mommy presence the first night and so, just like a real baby, he slept for 3-4 hours, fussed and whimpered~threw his little head back, made an "O" with his little lips and HOOOOWLLLLED....then had to have a drink, a pee, a poo and then droopy headed back to sleep. I was exhausted and not amused but still quite charmed by this little thing....so little.

I miss having babies..... :hit And, no, a puppy is no real substitute...but pulls at your heart strings nonetheless. :)

Am uploading pics of him right now and also a pic of the monsters inside of him....wormed him today and was horrified at what this poor pup was carrying. I can honestly say I've never seen anything like this come out of any of my dogs!!! :ep

I used Pyrantel Pamoate...actually, it was horse wormer that I had here. Used a minute dab on the back of his tongue and an hour and a half later he had those monstrous worms. He had them all the next day but his stool looks pretty clear of them now and is more firmed up. I've given him buttermilk twice to reculture his tummy and will probably slip a little piece of mother vinegar into it next time also.

Dewley was moved to the Puppy Palace, aka Broody Boudoir, after the second night. He is doing wonderfully out there and is snug as a bug in a rug. He hasn't cried since that first night and seems very self sufficient....eats, plays, drinks, pees, poops and sleeps...sleeps a lot. I bring him in each morning for cuddles, play time and house time and evenings are spent in yard time.

We took him out in the orchard today while we picked apples and he played in the sunshine. He thought Black Betty was his mom and tried to follow her but she didn't like that. Mo keeps trying to butt him, so I had to run her off.

Lucy is getting more crippled with her arthritis and doesn't move around much but she seems largely uninterested in the pup. Jake seems scared of him and avoids him. That will all change when the pup gets old enough to play....Jake loves to play!

He is a very easy care pup and the Bat is very impressed...she really likes this dog. I think I will invest some really good training and socialization in this one if he is of a calm disposition. Jake has basic obedience and socialization but I can't take him out much due to his jittery, hyper nature and he gets car sick easily. He does not like to ride in the car.

I'd like to take Dewley places with me like I used to take Lucy before she got too old to get herself into the vehicle without my lifting her. Now it is hard on her to maintain her balance when the car is moving and she must lie down all the time...which is still hard on her. Then she can't get back out of the truck easily...so travel is not an option for her anymore.

Its kind of fun to have a new dog in the picture, even while I'm feeling an immense sadness at Lucy's deterioration. It won't be long now...she is really hobbling around now and you can see she is in pain most of the time. Its just hard to make that final decision.
