I wanted to let you know you probably won't be seeing much of me for the next several months. I'm seriously considering study for Illinois Gardener Training Certificate and apply to become a master gardener volunteer, then master gardener intern, then become a master gardener. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while now.

If I commit, I will jump in with both feet and put a lot of effort to reaching the goal. It's a multi step, potential multi year program to earn the title "master gardener" they sure don't give those titles away, that's for sure.

My main interest is learning more about fruits and trees. But the initial Illinois Gardener Training covers a lot more than that.

Have a quick read through here, tell me what you think 🤔 your thoughts are important to me.

What is this kind of moth, with a 6 inch wing span? I fist thought it was a bird as it flew past my head in the dark. Glad I had my pocket flashlight.

Looks to be an imperial moth.

P.S. Hard telling what you may find around here.

to the extent anything is going to take me away from gardening and getting projects done around here i would not be able to do it.

looking at their listed possible time commitment even after going through the coursework i would not be able to keep up a certification. several weeks a year isn't something i could do (even if taken a few hours here or there) just due to scheduling issues or emergencies and such. i just could not commit to being able to get away.

it says that classes are mandatory, right now you have animals that may be doing random animally things, so to me if i'm shelling out $ to get a certification and going through training, classes, and projects away how am i going to be able to have someone available on an instant's notice to cover for me at home?
